You might want to glance at this article TOP 10 CITIES WHERE PAYCHECKS GO FAR which lists Boston as one of the 10 *least* affordable cities. Good luck whatever you choose!

A big city always halves the value of your money. If you look hard though, you can make a decent living still, I bet.

With respect to sports, I'm going to have to find some social cricket or rugby team to play with on the weekends, eh. Something I'm good at that they're not good at.

At least it's not as bad as Manila, where two lanes quickly becomes four, or even six! ![]() ![]() |

Thanks mate, looks interesting.
Another question: assuming classes start 1st week of September, when should I move? How long does it take to find housing, etc.? If moved around early August is that too early/late? I'll be finding my own place, won't need to find a roomie or anything. |

Are you planning on going over first to look at houses, yes?

You mean go first to canvass, then come back to Sydney and then go again to move? If I had a spare $3500 for a return economy ticket, yes.
![]() I only want to go once, but I'm not sure how the rental market is. Can I get a place in 2-3 weeks? I'm renting, not buying btw. |

BTW I've found from my trip to the US that the changeovers are a bit shorter if you go Sydney to San Fran. If you can get a connection to Boston from there.
