That's quite a lot of disk space you've got there... What drives have you got in your RAID 5 machine?
I have an old P2-450 I've been playing with linux on, but it's too old to do much with (other than tinker)... although Linux runs quite nicely on it.

The Boxxtech system has 4x250gb Western Digital 7200 rpm Caviar SATA drives in a Supermicro hot swap chassis connected to a RaidCORE PCI-X controller. The OS array in that system is a pair of Seagate Cheetah 72GB 15krpm U320 SCSI drives running in a RAID0 configuration on an Adaptec 3920A PCI-X controller. I got the two different controllers primarily to evaluate if SCSI was worth the extra cost. The SCSI array is very fast, but isn't worth the money outside of a server environment IMO (the 140Gig SCSI array with 2 70GB drives cost a lot more than the terrabyte SATA array with 4 250GB ones).

Yeah, I was considering buying those two Cheetah's, but after buying a Raptor and having 2x 200gb Seagate Barracuda's (and 2 250gb Maxtors if need be) I just couldn't justify the cost, and I would need to buy a SCSI controller, which would take up one of 3 PCI slots. With another being taken up by the wifi card, it didn't leave much room for anything else I might need in there.

Yup, SATA just makes more sense for desktop and workstation systems. Now with the 10krpm sata drives there's even less reason to look at SCSI. Sure the Raid0 15000 rpm scsi array is faster than the Raid5 7200 rpm sata array, but only by maybe 20% on average (access times aren't that much faster, so the read advantage isn't as significant when reading small blocks of data)... and at an 8x cost/gb difference.

Here's mine:

Athlon 64 3000+ Winchester running at 300*9
DFI Lanparty NForce 4 Ultra
2*512MB OCZ PC3200 Voltage Extreme running at 250 MHz, 2,2,2,6 1T (5/6 divider) 3.3 volts
Connect 3D Radeon X850XT (520 core, 540 memory) running at 570 core, 594 memory
CoolerMaster Stacker case
Enhance 460W PSU with dual +12v rails
74GB Western Digital Raptor SATA drive (OS + games) + 120GB Deskstar for media
NEC 3500A DVD writer
Altec Lansing 2.1 speakers
Logitech MX510 mouse

The Winchester 3000+ runs at 1.8GHz stock, and I'm running this at 2.7GHz 24/7, which is a true 50% overclock. This thing is 100% stable (which I've confirmed through various tests, Prime95 most notably) and runs pretty cool and quiet so I'm pretty chuffed with it. It scores 30,000 3D Marks in Futuremarks 3DMark 2001, 14,000 in 3D Mark 2003 and 6,500 in 3D Mark 2005.

Here's a screenshot

God bless overclocking!
