It is always fun to see how a thread about 'good' music turns out to be about the BigMacs of the music as a whole.

Some albums:
Yes- Fragile
King Crimson - Larks' tongues in aspic
Van der Graaf Generator - Godbluff
Gentle Giant - Power and the Glory
Some fusion: Mahavishnu Orchestra - Inner Mounting Flame

I love heavy metal music, I would've had a blast in the 80's I'm sure, but now my taste is between heavy and rap metal.

Bands I listen to:
Kid Rock, Linkin Park, Ozzy Osbourne, Guns'N'Roses, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Led Zeppelin, Journey, The Eagles, Dokken, Nickelback, Rob Zombie, Godsmack, Korn, Saliva, Drowning Pool, Green Day, and Nightwish.

As for favorite songs among bands, these'll be it:
Linkin Park - Numb
Nightwish - Wish I had an Angel
Green Day - Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Golden Earring - Twilight Zone
Def Leppard - Bringing on the Heartbreak

Hmm, hardcore...Dimmu Borgir had a guitarist, called Astennu who was chucked out, and atm he's in a hardcore band called Stronger Than Hate. I can't remember if you said you liked them, i can't remember what you DID post, but i thaught i'd mention them. I'm not a fan, but since you mention hardcore...
