Its gotta be either a good ol' Half-orc Barbarian or an super powerful mage. Though I am currently playing with a Ranger/Cleric and thats shaping up pretty nicely.

I've never really found bards much good for killing. Thats best left to assasins and other such like killers. Clerics are pretty good fighters. Don't like druids or halflings, half-elfs, Rangers(apart from the archer guy).

All races and classes are equal for pretty much everything. It just depends on what you are using them for. My solo cleric is even doing pretty well in melee. Having the character fit his/her usage is much more important than raw power. Finesse is sometimes much better than raw power, sometimes not.

If playing a multiplayer game i am usually a Elven Swashbuckler
