"the thing about black holes is... well, they're black. And the thing about grit is.... well, it's black. So how would I have known it was grit on the screen?"

Hmmm, OK forget the BIG BAT, maybe instead a very big trampoline. Once the asteroid is finally taken care of, it can be cut up and used in place of public transportation. ![]() |

But Ted Williams head is frozen. I've read he was the greatest hitter in baseball. Lets extract his dna and nurture a batter! Lady Z's idea is still valid!

I think these people who make the predictions are wrong anyway. I mean, more than once, they predicted the end of civilization due to a big asteroid or a giant caterpillar or a man-eating space-fly etc. And everytime they turn out to be wrong, it's publiciced as little as posible coz they know ppl will stop listening to them...

yeah I agree this will probably turn out to be another red herring. But the law of averages does say disaster will strick the earth one day. I remember watching this program about space one day and after that I'm alot more worried about blackholes than any asteroid. If a single black hole came too close to our solar system the consequences would be terrible, trust me this program was scary!

Why do we worry so much about the threat posed by some fat meteoroid, about which we can't do much and are not even sure about, but give nary a hoot about the far more immediate threat of a disintegrating global environment, about which we can do so much more and which we are so much surer about?
If this isn't a telling example of the sheer idiocy of the human race, then I don't know what is.

I too saw this.
All I can say is; if they find out it WILL hit us, we better get our asses working on anti-matter weapons and QUICK! A Nuke won't help to blow it up, but deflecting it.... maybe.. but when it's that close and we have one shot.. that would be really crappy if it didn't work. Either way.. if it hits and we can't do anything.... just live each day as your last and enjoy life. |
