The inspections have NOT worked for 12 years. Iraq cannot account for their arsenal that was a known quantity in 91, let alone what he is suspected of having now. How can you delude yourself into thinking that they work. As for innocent lives being lost, the sanctions cause numerous deaths. The sanctions were to be lessend/lifted when Iraq proved that it disarmed according to the cease fire agreement. Yet for 12 years, Hussein would rather rebuild his power that take care of his people. The ONLY reason that Iraq seems to be "more cooperative" is there are an extra 250 thousand "inspectors" waiting on his borers.
well Nightstalker, I am not deluding myself and I am not refering to 12 years of inspections, but the inspection process that began a few short months ago and is currently incomplete.[/QUOTE]Would that be the inspections that were RE-STARTED after the 1st bunch of inspections colapsed before totaly completing thier mission? Or would that be the round of inspections that were authorized by UN resolution 1441 to go into Iraq and verify that Sodamn Insane had reveled every thing he was supposed to revel by early Dec. 2002,and destroy, but failed to revel? Or maybe the inspections that have found Iraq on 4 seperate occasions to be in material breach of the very UN resolution that authorized the inspectors?

There is no way to be sure if there are or are no illegal weapons in Iraq.

What is the alternative? Sitting around in a "circle jerk"?
Sodamn Insane is a lair nobody disputes that, He's a low life sack of camel dung, a murdering butcher. A man that the first time he was arrested when all of his comrades had turned themseves in he didn't turn himself in UNTIL he had fired every bullet he had at the Iraqi police forces. That tell me he sure as "POOP" will not be impressed by talk, or anything less then overwhelming force.
