slicer15,
what is you PC specifications? I am playing with only P4 1.5 GHz, 256 MB RAM and Geforce 2MMX. The frame rate is kind of slow in certain area but still playable. Mouse, If you have the belt which grants you electrical immunity and with a high "to hit" rating, you can just whack him without the need for stims buffing. My dueling Scout-Guardian (5/15) dispatch him in less than 3 minutes. 1 minutes to run around and use "destroy droid" to release the jedi prisoners and another minute to cast heal, force speed and run a little far away from him... Then, one single force jump, follow up by three round of master flurry. A little bit too easy once you are immuned to his "deadly" force lightning. Oh, my game is playable. Like I said, the sound problem only appears in a cave or "dungeon" of some sort. It stutters and slows down, hard to explain. I used to have video trouble, but I got the drivers that KOTOR supported and the visual problem disappeared. Replaced, it seems, by the sound mess-up. Otherwise my stats are: -
AMD AthlonXP 2400+ (2.0GHz) GeForce FX5200 128MB 512MB RAM PC2700 Windows XP Pro Any others you need give me a shout. (In a sense... ![]() [ 01-09-2004, 04:43 PM: Message edited by: slicer15 ] |

Sorry, I forgot to ask earlier:
What sound card you are having? My plain old SB Live value (the earliest edition) works quite fine. Minimal choppy sound except when too many Siths are throwing grenades at us (Star Forge area). Maybe you can try to turn the detail lower. I played with the following setting: Sound: EAX 2.0 (Switching to EAX 1.0 has little effect to improve the smoothness) Graphics: Medium texture no antialiasing (my card only support up to 2x) V-Sync on Shadow on Grass on [ 01-09-2004, 11:41 PM: Message edited by: Paladin2000 ]

Ah, I see. Most on-board sound cards are too underpowered to handle Direct 3D sound, epecially echos and underwater sound effect.
Try this... turn off sound completely. Play the game. See if it is still choppy in echo heavy areas (dungeons and caves). If it doesn't, you probably need to get a new sound card. I would suggest to go for some relatively "cheap" good sound cards like Creative SoundBlaster Live 5.1 if that is the case. [ 01-11-2004, 02:05 AM: Message edited by: Paladin2000 ]

*BUMP*
It seems like light mastery for the Guardian class bestows additional +3 to your STR, which makes the Guardian class the best choice for dual wielding, if you rely on your STR for the "to hit" bonus. Even if you concentrate on your DEX for the "to hit" bonus, the extra +3 STR would further augment your lightsabre damage potential. Below are the bonus for light/dark mastery (from Bioware forum): Light Side Guardian: +3 Strength Sentinel: +3 Constitution Consular: +3 Charisma Dark Side Guardian: +1d8 damage Sentinel: Immunity: Poison Consular: +50 Force points Call me crazy, but I have finished the game on the following combinations: Soldier-Sentinel 7/13 (dual wielding) light side Scout-Sentinel 4/16 (dual wielding) light side Scout-Sentinel 5/15 (1 handed) light side Scout-Guardian 5/15 (1 handed) light side Scout-Guardian 5/15 (dual wielding) light side IMO, Scout+Guardian seems to be a good choice for either dual wielding or one handed. With a higher INT (14), you will gain good feats and skill points for early level, if you save some for persuasion later, you still have enough skill points for repair, computer and treat injury. With a merely 14 STR, plus +3 from the light mastery and additional +5 from "Dominator gauntlet"... totals up to 22 STR. you are a walking lawn mower. ![]() With this stat, my 5/15 dual wielding Guardian equipped with a +7 double bladed lightsabre has a whooping +32 to hit bonus. With the "master condition" feat, your overall saves are quite impressive. [ 01-13-2004, 02:50 PM: Message edited by: Paladin2000 ]

![]() Nah, neither do I...just seems wrong to me. Oh, and I fixed the sound problem. For some reason after re-installing Windows because of a different unrelated problem reinstalling the 53.03 video driver fixed both the visual and sound issues and the game runs perfectly now...really odd. But I ain't complaining. So that's what the mastery does? Whoa...my strength mus be through the roof then cos I had 16 to start with, plus the 3 from my mastery and plus 5 from some gauntlets...24! Whoa, I have to check this out! |
