Well, IMHO, defeating the dark aeons wasn't that tough compared to getting the 0:0:0 timing, catching butterfiles and dodging 200 lightning bolts. !! GRRR.. its driving me crazy on the butterflies and lightning bolts..

I know what you mean. Getting the Sigils for most of the characters is tedious at the best of times. It took me around 20 attempts, but I finally got Tidus's freakin' Sigil. Bah

Dark aeons...not tough!? Are you serious?

The 0 time and butterfly catches were small cookies compare to the 200 bolts. I've made it up to 37 consecutive dodges and have yet to surpass it.

That "dodging lightning bolts" subquest is insane. I've heard it takes over an hour to dodge 200; what a waste of time.

Kakero, is FFX-2 any good? Have you finished it?
They are tough monsters but the battle don't last that long compared to the ever-time-consuming sigil quests.. If you know what I mean. furthermore, the dark aeons are just monsters, they have hps, with the right tactics and tons of abilites, it should be quite manageable. Think of dodging 199 lightning bolts and you missed one. OUCH!!

Dodge 200 Lightbolts!
1) make sure your room is rather dark, that way you can see the initial flicker of light better
2) a minimum of sounds! Fake sounds representing even faker bolts (which probably mean back to 0 for you) were implemented in the game to trick you! Reducing the soundvolume makes you less susceptable to this
3) do the dodging when you're fit. If you're tired, you'll fail! Be alert!
4) don't do more than 20 dodges in a row. Even if you think you're on a winning spree, take a 5 minute break.
5) you all probably know the best location to dodge: above the little store, next the big building. If not, ask me and I'll tell you.
6) focus your view on the screen, not tidus!: a fixed point and following that point as Tidus runs around. This causes more strain on your eyes but increases you succes rate.

Finish the race under 0:0:0 seconds!

Try it for 10-15 times, then go do something else.

Butterfly catching!

Map 1

and

Map 2

Learn these by heart and the butterfly catching is easy. I had difficulty with two choke-points during the race. Once I figured those two out, the race became easy. Finished it 3 times already (and I dont mean three times the easy race, no, three times for Kimahri's sigil!).

But indeed, Square took a huge risk of implementing these games as they are nerve wrecking...

And did any one notice how the chest-quest in the Omega-Dungeon works? Insane I'll tell you!!

Actually, Zuvio, the best place for dodging bolts is a ways south of the travel agency. You can lodge yourself between two craters (one above and one below you) so when you are struck you aren't tossed very far at all. And the strikes come about 5-15 seconds apart.

Time-interval between strikes is the same and the point of dodging bolts is *not* to get hit. And if you meant the backward-jump Tidus makes when dodging, that really doesn't matter at all. But if you made it on that spot and I made it on my spot then they're both good spots to dodge! And IIRC there are at least three places with the shortest time-interval ...
