Funny, I fought Draconis with my solo Sorcerer and he did not even manage to touch me.

Now... his father, with the Improved Abazigal patch, that is a worthy fight, even with a full party.

Overall though... I hate packs of Mind Flayers... they can be killed, but darn it all, I just hate them.

I dunno, I used chaotic commands on my party and illithids became a cake walk....Ive gotta say that even at high levels Dragons still kick my a**. But thats probably just my lack of a good strategy.

I had a pretty tough time with Firkaag at lower levels, but after him dragons were easy. In fact, I don't think Adalon even got a lick in. I had my theif set a time stop trap and a spike trap, and Edwin cast Dragon's Breath and that was all she wrote. Once I discovered Chaotic Commands, my abject fear of illithids quickly subsided as well. Some parts of the Unseeing Eye quest can be a little hairy. I've managed to hold out ok against the liches so far, although I haven't fought them all yet.

The toughest battle I have been in as of yet would have to be in the Watchers Keep. (TOB expansion, but still in Shadows of Amn). One of the keys you turn when opening the final seal throws one of everything nasty at you: beholder, djinni, succubus, you name it, and they are all high powered spellcasters. I cursed so much there is probably still a green haze hanging somewhere over the North Atlantic. After several attempts, I finally had to lower the difficulty not once but twice from the BGII setting. At that point I didn't care about the experience points anymore, I just wanted to get through there and find out what was awaiting me in the chamber beneath and finish the #%$^& quest.

All-right I know this isnt a real fight the designers disigned. But (if you have read my thread: Liches Liches everywhere) then you would know that the worst fight I have ever fought is three liches at once in a very small and confined room. Three meteror swarms, three timestops and dai aziman's horrid wiltings... well it was hell, what can I say.

But I did win... eventually. It took a few tries though. Like two.
Yeah they are NO match for my level 20 imported caviler!

Group Category:
1. Twisted Rune
2. Guarded Compound in Temple District

Individual Category:
1. Jon Irenicus
2. Kangaxx, i guess.

I have found that Kangaxx is actually really easy. Unlike most people, i use the protection from magic scroll ON KANGAXX IN HIS LICH FORM to keep him from time-stopping, symbol, blah-ing me. even works for solo mages. Once he calls me a fool, i run upstairs while the red light is on. Cast a spell immunity:abjuration, and go back down. my immune person walks up to him, and while he brags about smacking me, my best fighter uses the undead scroll and beats him down. easiest 55000XP i ever made at once. fun.

for my solo mage, Vithal in the underdark was much more difficult. sure, he's weak, but he's a very good mage. apparently, if he gets to a certain health level and has cast enough spells, he does a nasty INNATE time stop (0 casting time, cannot be stopped) and pulls the gate-dimension door trick. Easy to defeat, hard to destroy. (not that my mage can use the skull of death anyway... how odd he, a fellow mage, wears it with no problems...)

Personally, try going into the twisted rune with a lvl 9 bard, minsc, Yoshimo, Nalia, and Jaheira, with no magic items except for a couple swords. God, I must have been drunk or stoned that night. Besides, after that, I realized that BARDS ARE THE DUMBEST CLASS. Hell, I couldn't even beat Firkragg with that guy, but it was easy as hell with a low level cleric. Go figure.

Kangaxx is flippin' difficult, I got him down to "near death" before my whole party was imprisoned apart from my player chsarecter sorceror. Luckily he was carrying the staff of the magi (+5, enough tho hit kangaxx) but had a terrible THAC0. I used it to slap on a spell trap, good for four or so imprisonments. During that time a scored a critical hit on kangaxx and killed him leaving me an entire party to free (thank god i had the scroll)

I think the beholder's dungeon was harder than the mind flayer's one.
