"I know..." Was all the elf would say for the longest moment and added finally, "Your amulet showed me..." Sighing, he finished, "But I don't know if I can return your feelings."

There it was. Said. Out in the open.

"Not until this is over..." he whispered, closed his eyes, hung his head and in a guilt stricken tone said, "I'm sorry... I know that wasn't the answer you wanted or were looking for..." Turning away, suddenly heart-broken, he declined to say anything else, feeling guilty. Kyr whispered in Jena's ear words that could change her life forever; "He loves you too..."

Jena gently placed her hands on Aeriah's shoulders. "Aeriah..." Turning to face him, Jena continued. "Do not feel sad or guilty. I understand completly. I was expecting nothing more...and...if you just want to be just friends, for today, tomorrow, or forever, then that is perfectly ok with me." Smiling warmly as she gazed at Aeriah, Jena took each of his hands into hers. "If you are afraid of becoming a monster after you regain your memory, then do not worry. Monsters do, after all, need love, friendship, or both too. In fact, the worst, most evil people in the land are usually the ones in the most need of love."

Turning her face up to the heavens now, Jena giggled happily as large rain drops plopped on her forehead, cheeks, nose, and eyelids. Sticking out her tongue, she caught several of them in her mouth.

"I just love the rain, Aeriah."

OOC: this post refers to the current game time again.

Drusalia 22/22

Drusalia watched as everyone went off in different directions, Faironi to hunt and Jena and Aeriah to have a talk. Drusalia put down her backpack and started mounting her tent.

"Verri, can you give me a hand with this?" - she asked of the paladin with a private smile.

"I... don't know what to say... thank you." Whispered the elf, closing his eyes, his head hung low, but allowing her to hold his hands and he finally finished, "Do not tell the others, but... I know for a certainty what some of my past was now... because of your amulet."

Looking quietly into her eyes, Aeriah informed her softly, "We can never be together, even if I had wanted to... even if I want to..." Turning away he added, "You don't know what I am, and its far too dangerous... I could never subject you to such danger, not in good conscience... I could never allow you to take such a risk for me, even though it is not my choice. Please... honour my decision. When the time comes... leave me, I beg of you..."

Jena nodded silently, with understanding, and headed back towards camp.
"Very well, Aeriah, if that is your wish"

A coldness seemed to settle over her, and she shivered briefly as she nelt near Fai....

"This is going to be a long, long journey, Fai..."

Sighing, Jena grabbed some of Fai's grub.

Kyr frowned at Aeriah, as her master stood facing the mountain, staring through the forest trees, dread hanging over him, just as the low cloud hung over the mountain. Something was troubling him, and she didn't know what.

Having remained with Jena, Kyr had kept very quiet until now. "Maybe you should go talk to him... find out what's troubling him. I don't know, and even if I asked, he wouldn't tell me... but he looks like he carries the weight of the world on his shoulders." The little pixie whispered in her ear, for once, her tone solemn and quite serious.

Taking Kyr’s advice, Jena approached Aeriah.
“I am sorry for leaving you so abruptly. It’s just that we….”
Clearing her throat, Jena changed the subject.
“Please talk to me, Aeriah. I am not sure what you mean by the amulet showed you something you were afraid of. I thought…it had to be worn in order to observe the wearer’s true, inner feelings. What is it that troubles you so greatly….that has affected you? I promise never to tell a single soul, for as long as I live, and I swear that my intentions are honest and sincere. If, truly, you have no feelings for me, I need to know right here and right now….before you say anything else. It would make everything much more easier….” Jena glanced at Aeriah for answers....

At her approach, Aeriah stiffened and relaxed, and again, hung his head. Finally, he raised his eyes and held hers, his soft glassy-green orbs troubled, and softly, he informed her, in a tone so normal, he might have been discussing the weather, "You are dealing with two things, and were it any other, but you, I would hold my own council. The first... is, not as troubling as the second, but..., you are dealing with royalty. I am the last true heir to the throne."

He left that thougth hanging in the air for a long moment, before turning away and adding, "And the one who ordered this spell cast in the first place."

Jena was barely able to speak. She was shocked. W...why? I mean...you're.....how did you...know this?"

Barely able to keep her composure, Jena had to lean against a tree in order to avoid falling over.

Aeriah smiled quietly, "As you said before, such things as a person's true personality, cannot be hidden. Your amulet revealed inner feelings known to me only before as conflict, but... I know that it was with the best intentions in mind, or else, your amulet has lied to me. It is an 'educated' guess, if you will, but from what I can make out from my feelings, I am indeed, responsible, but as to why, I do not know - but I mean to find out." Turning his gaze to her, he looked her long in the eye and said softly, "Now you know why we can never be together; not because of what I am, but because of the burden I must carry. It would endanger you needlessly."
