I can't resist posting at movie threads!
In any case, I think that an animated movie (if they used the animators for Final Fantasy: the Spirits Within) would be better than a live - action one. It would just be easier, since casting would be just a matter of getting the voice actors/actresses from BG2.
But, if they absolutely HAD to make it a live - action one, here's my two cents:

Irenicus: Christopher Walken. VERY good choice for any creepy, disturbed character. I still have my doubts about his ability with an English accent, though...he'd be good if Jon Malcovich couldn't do it for some reason.

Bodhi: Angelina Jolie. Loved it, loved it, loved it! With Bodhi, you really don't have to have too much acting ability (you just have to look good in a skimpy vampiress outfit), so Jolie makes the cut 100 percent!

Imoen: Winona Ryder. Very nice, and PERFECT for the role. She would probably do the part of an annoying, immature thief/mage really well, and just dye her hair red and you're good to go!

Jaheira: Sigourney Weaver. I don't know why I say this, but I can imagine she'd do a great job as Jaheira, especially if she was the main love interest. If not her, then Catherine Zeta - Jones.

Yoshimo: Jet Li. Some early posts suggested Jackie Chan, and I thought this would be good for a time, but then I realized Chan would do a better all - around - good character.

Keldorn: Sean Connery, all the way! He has a very strong and imposing screen personality, and even sounds like Keldorn from the game with a Scottish accent.

Edwin: I'm not really sure you'd HAVE to have him in there. If you got Dennis Leary for a bartender, that'd be half your comedic relief right there.

Jan: Undecided. At first I thought Danny DeVito, but then I realized he just doesn't seem like the kind of actor to do a gnome - ish thief who keeps rambling on with folk tales, and more the kind of guy for Montaron if somebody ever made a BG1 movie.

Jeremy Irons, I'll just say this flat out, I just dislike. In Dungeons & Dragons (a movie that, after seeing it in the theatre, I literally stood up and said, "Come ON! They can do better than THAT!"), he really hammed up the role of the evil mage, and maybe he'd do a half - decent Edwin. Maybe.

If they did ToB:

Gromnir: Diedrich Bader (you know, the guy from the Drew Carey Show). He wouldn't neccessarily do a very good SMART evil character, but he'd be funny as hell as a lame - brained half orc! He even sounds like him from the game.

Melissan: After a while of thinking, I'd have to say Sigourney Weaver if they didn't cast her as Jaheira. If anybody saw her in Alien Resurrection, you'd know that she does evil VERY well!

So that's my two cents (or rather 40 bucks from the length of the post...)
