Nice screenshots Dundee.
btw, do you use any program to take them, or is it simply PrtScrn? Where did you get the potion case, is it added by BGTuTu, or did you CLUA it in? Did Farluck really not go hostile when your fireball hit him? how come? And how did they kill the bartender, do they cast any AoE spells?

It's just PrintScreen to save it as a .bmp file in your ScrnShot folder. I then used IrfanView to save it as a .jpg file, using 80% compression. Quote:

~~~~ ~~~~ Finally completed all the 'minor' quests in BGate. Completed Werewolf Island( at 420xp... the werewolves are a whole lot harder than most 2000+ fights...). Currently at Durlag's Tower's entrance. Once I am done with TotSC, it will be back to the Iron Throne. |
Thus far in my current BGTutu run, I have been rather sparing in my usage of Set Traps. This was because well... there was no Set Traps skill in the default BG1. In one of the cases whereby I decided to utilise this skill, the end result turned out to be quite... amusing.
Anticipating a tough battle, I had completely forgotten that recovering from Petrification reduces your HP to 1. Two traps... five kills... Imoen wins. Add a couple of percentage points to her Information sheet. ~~~~ ~~~~ Before heading down to Durlag's Tower, I made a quick trip to the Sorcerer Sundries. At that point, I had over 100,000gp. Just what could I possibly want to buy? Why... why not blow it ALL on ammunition? Yes, that is it! Let us spend 90,000+gp on bolts and arrows! Imoen now packs 300+ each of Bolts of Biting and Bolts of Lightning... The Bolts of Biting are absolutely evil in prolonged fights. Stacked with Rena's Poison Weapon and Minsc's Arrows of Biting, and you have an enemy that becomes the Poisoned Puppet... Bolts of Lightning essentially doubles Imoen's damage( occasionally triple) and are great against the Undead. With their healthy damage, Imoen has been more successful in landing last hits. Minsc... ah, Minsc... nearly 900 Acid Arrows. Who needs Arrows+1? Certainly not Minsc. Nay, his default ammunition is now Acid Arrows. No save against the acid damage. So much more superior to Arrows of Fire/Ice. He also has 100+ Arrows of Biting for prolonged fights, a dozen Arrows of Dispelling, and a few dozen Arrows of Piercing. Dynaheir and Jaheira both use Bullets+1 at the moment. I intend to switch them to Bullets+2 permanently after I loot Durlag's Tower. With the increased amount of normal-weapons-immuned creatures, I can no longer afford to stick with Throwing Daggers for Rena. Her kill rate has been pathetic in the past few chapters. She is currently using a Shortbow with Arrows+1. ~~~~ ~~~~ Everybody who has entered Durlag's Tower knows about the Demonknight. Ah yes... the Demonknight. Such a PITA. Such... gall to just pop in, toss two fireballs, and pop out. Who could possibly stand for such an affront? Certainly not me! Oh if only I could conjure Demons in BG1! Shep would never live to see another day! So many insolent fools spared from my wrath because of the damnable consequences of reputation loss. Not so for the Demonknight though! So... how can one defeat the Demonknight before he DDs away? We could try the grandiose strategy of SixOfSpades and mine the wazoo out of the spawning spot, but that would hurt innocents, and quite frankly, I do not really have the patience to lay so many mines. I need... something simpler... something... anybody can do... something... possible even in default BG1... I need... a Wand of Paralyzation. Nailed him on the fourth QuickLoad. This version of the Demonknight has a SavevsWands of 0, and ZERO Magic Resistance. A SavingThrow of 0 usually means autosave, but the killer here is that the Wand of Paralyzation has a SavingThrow PENALTY of -4. So you have a 20% chance of nailing him with it. If you have another Mage/Bard in your group, you can either cast Greater Malison first, to improve your chances to 30%, or cast another wand for 36% chance. Chunky Demonknight, and the spoils of the fight. No XP though... Ike was so shocked at being still alive that he was speechless. ~~~~ ~~~~ The Succubus, Kirinhale, posed another challenge. She is worth a good 3000xp, but going hostile on her means missing out on her 4000xp quest reward. How then, does one reap the full 7000xp? Why... by being a two-faced backstabbing no-goody two-shoes of course. Kirinhale has a Magic Resistance of 50%, and a SavevsWands of 4. So the chances of you nailing her with a Wand of Paralyzation is... 20% as well. In theory. The Magic Resistance is just too annoying to bypass. We need another strategy. Talk to Kirinhale, get hair. Talk to Riggilo, give him hair. Go back to Kirinhale, get quest reward, and... ... BACKSTAB her. Go back to Riggilo and do the same. Gosh... I can't wait for BG2 and x7 backstabs... ~~~~ ~~~~ Onward to the dungeons of Durlag's Tower. ![]() ADD] I no longer have Alegorn's Cloak. I surrendered it in its' relevent quest. With the possession of a Nymph Cloak from the quest reward at Sorcerer Sundries, I am able to maintain 21 CHA for Rena. ![]() [ 05-21-2006, 12:12 PM: Message edited by: Dundee Slaytern ] |
FFFFFF">Mockery! Such mockery! By the spells of Zhem, I can never live this down! Bound by the same script that protected my legacy, I was made a fool, a damnable fool by those wicked mortals!
I pay no heed to personal reputation, but to be made used of is unforgivable! Oh... if only I had forseen this when I made my incantations... To think that these adventurers have nothing better else to do than to waste their time planning this for their own amusement... Mark my words! When I accomplish what I sought out to do, they shall be first on my to-do-in list. It started normally enough. Some curious fool disturbing my marker. I strode forth to berate them, only to be stricken by paralysation. It was an ambush! They had been expecting me! I could only struggle to voice out my curses and swears on them before they made me meet my maker. No worries though... I built my phylactery for a reason, but they summoned me again! I was better prepared this time though. I had a contingency set to summon a Phoenix Guard should anything happen to me. Ha! Let them suffer my wrath this time, or so I thought. They actually went through the trouble of making one of their own immuned to fire! Just how much time do these morons have to waste? To add insult to injury, it appeared that they summoned me for a purpose... to rob some fat guy's fortune. They used me to avoid staining their own hands! For gold and emeralds they were willing to incur my wrath and kill innocents? Even Demons have better things to do with their time! It did not end there though. No, it did not. They made me kill children... DAMN THEM! Damn them to the Nine Hells! I tried to scare the children away, but their blasted curiosity made them stay. I was helpless... helpless to stop what happened next. The screams! Their screams still echo in my head! Can there be anything more wretched than the screaming of children? Their smouldering remains burned into my eyes. How many years must pass before I can forget about them? Damn it all. ~~~~ ~~~~ The above happened after the final boss fight in Ulgoth's Beard. Hoo-boy... first time doing this. I was not expecting the acolytes to become Ta'naris. Up till that point, I had let the AI Script handle everything, and the party was able to whoop Aec'Letec's butt, but six Aec'Letecs? No way, ho say. Therefore I went manual mode. ![]() I allowed the party to be on automode until the Mage lady died. Once that happened, I immediately went into manual, and began to target the Acolytes first, while distracting Aec'Letec with summons. 1st Acolyte down, Arrows of Detonation, 2nd Acolyte down, Casting Improved Invisibility on Jaheira to protect her, 3rd Acolyte down( Khalid's on a roll here), 4th Acolyte down, 5th Acolyte down, 6th, and last, Acolyte down. With all the acolytes down, I finally switched back to automode and let the AI handle the rest. Khalid's well on his to MVP of this BG1 run. ~~~~ ~~~~ I have hit the XP Cap of 161,000xp. I basically got all the best equipment already. Having slain Aec'Letec, I went to Nashkel to sell some Winter Wolf pelts and have some fiery fun. Beregost was next to sell off some Wyvern heads and weird stuff such as the Butterknife, Belladonna flowers, etc... Sorcerer Sundries was next, where I spent another 100,000+gp on bolts and arrows. Wow... 200,000+gp on ammunition alone. I actually managed to buy all the Acid Arrows, Arrows of Biting, etc... and made them out of stock. Bought loads of Bolts of Polymorphing too. The reason for doing so will become apparent enough. ![]() Woot. The party is now fully reloaded and recharged for the final battles. Overkill, in other words. |
Nice Dundee, Nice. An enjoyable romping read from one of the creative minds of IW.
Believe it or not I was only annoyed by one thing in your missive: The fact that BG1 without Tutu was detrimental to you ever wanting to play it, I mean geez! Its the gameplay man, not the graphics! ![]() However, that said - you've definitely made me put a bold underline on TuTu in my list of upcoming games to play, as I am quite intrigued by possibilities of the kits and of the epic feeling of playing all the way through to ToB. I shall ponder on it indeed some more. ![]()
Smaller screenshots this time round( 800x600 instead of the usual 1024x768). Hence the fuzziness of the text.
~~~~ ~~~~ Keeping the mantra of not letting any non-innocents go, Diarmid became another victim to the party. "Death to all who oppose me!" ~~~~ ~~~~ With maximum experience, and loaded to the core, NOTHING, and I mean, NOTHING, could stand in my party's way save scripted events and dread of reputation loss. The hostile Flaming Fist Enforcers(FFE) were a constant source of amusement, because I could finally utilise my 'ultimate' weapons. Ah... The Cruelties of Adventurers... The... evil thing about Polymorph in BG1 is that it is PERMANENT until dispelled. So yeah... when FFEs are polymorphed, even a burdened character can move faster than them. They hop around and squeak, and generally look so utterly ridiculous that one cannot help but laugh at them. I mean... check this one out. "I AM the law!" I just about died laughing at that one. ~~~~ ~~~~ The final fight on the last level of the Iron Throne was purely handled by the AI Script, and I managed to get one totally awesome screenshot( a totally lucky one). The fight began with, as is usually the case, with some fireball tossing. The resulting explosion instantly killed the Doppleganger, and Khalid begins to move in. Minsc got unlucky and failed his saving throw against a Flame Strike. While Minsc was still smouldering, Khalid landed the killing blow on Aasim. Khalid landing killing blows was a very common thing throughout the game. Jaheira got the next kill. Planting a bullet smack into Diyab's face. Okay, this next screenshot is the win. Khalid was out of Minsc's line of sight, and Minsc decided to fire off his Necklace of Missiles. Normally, this would mean that Khalid would get roasted as well, but the PILLAR BLOCKED KHALID and Khalid suffered no damage at all while the rest of the hostiles burned. Remember, I was not controlling them. This was a totally random event. Naaman was the next to fall, and once again, Khalid took the glory. Minsc took the next kill with an Arrow of Biting, bringing down Zhalimar. Alai managed to confuse the party prior to his death by Imoen. You can see his dead body next to a pillar. Gardush, the last survivor, panicked and tried to run away, but Imoen shot him in the back, as a Thief should ![]() For being such a chicken, Thaldorn got the backstab special. ~~~~ ~~~~ Sarevok was... a total pushover. Save some luring and one amusing event, I mostly let the AI do their thing. Sarevok lured away from the damnable traps. Okay, this one was totally random. At the same time that Semaj died, Khalid's Full Plate Mail shattered. Oh noes! Since one cannot change armour during battle, melee with Sarevok is totally not an option now. Cue drastic equipment change between Khalid and Jaheira. From Imoen's Bag of Holding, I tossed a normal Composite Longbow to Khalid and dumped all the Arrows of Piercing onto him. Jaheira was an excellent tank, but had crappy THAC0. Sarevok was also shuddering a lot from Rena's poison. The Poison Stutter is always amusing to see on high HP opponents. They have so much HP that you can apply loads and loads of poison effects on them for humorous effect. Imoen was also shooting Bolts of Polymorphing at Sarevok, but unfortunately, all of the shots failed to polymorph him. In the end, it was once again Khalid. Armed with a CLongbow and zero proficiencies in Longbows, he STILL, somehow, got the killing shot. ~~~~ ~~~~ Character Information prior to the Sarevok fight. Rena Ryuuguu's Statistics Rena Ryuuguu's Information Khalid's Information Jaheira's Information Dynaheir's Information Imoen's Information Minsc's Information ~~~~ ~~~~ World Map, for those who want to print out a map reference for their future BG1 games. ~~~~ ~~~~ Onward to BG2. ![]() Ascension, Sola, Kelsey, Tactics, EoU, IUpgrade, and UBusiness have been installed. From those mods, about 19 components were NOT installed. Mainly the additional kits, Improved Ilyich, kit 'rebalances'( yeah right), etc... From those mods, it will be my first time playing with Kelsey, IUpgrades, and UBusiness. SoA party will consist of the following, on Core Difficulty( it has been a long time since I touched the game), Rena Yoshimo/Imoen Minsc Jaheira Kelsey The sixth slot will be left open to complete individual NPCs quests. Minsc will be my main tank until Jaheira gets her Ironskins. I know I am lacking Clerical power here, but I have my reasons for choosing this setup. The ToB party will include you know who, and if you don't, go play ToB now. [ 05-23-2006, 08:27 AM: Message edited by: Dundee Slaytern ] |
