Lawrence of Arabia is a great flick, but Gangs of New York has a terrible ending, something should have been done about that.
As for favorute Shakespeare film I'm glad you brought it up, there are great films out there, like Romeo+Juliet with Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes, or Too Much Ado Over Nothing with kenneth Branagh, Denzel Washington and Keanu Reeves and finally Midsummer Night's Dream with Kevin Kline, Michelle Pfeifer and Christian Bale.

my favorite movie has got to be The Lord of the Rings:Return of the King. After that would be LOTR: The Two Towers. I think LOTR: The Fellowship of the Ring sucked, though.

I like 'em all. In fact, I think FotR is my favorite, for the Moria segment.

do animated movies count?
Hotaru no haka (Grave of the fireflies). the saddest movie (by far) i have ever seen. it's been more than two years since i've seen it and stil just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes... i don't think i'll ever be able to bring myself to watch it again. |

I like the old stuff. Gone with the Wind was an amazing film. I'd also vote for almost anything with Peter Sellers in it. Of relatively recent movies, I really enjoyed Enigma, Memento, X-2, and The Two Towers. For pure Hollywood action, Die Hard was the best.
I'm also a sucker for high-flying Hong Kong kung-fu movies. The Drunken Master series (Jackie Chan) and the first three Once Upon a Time in China movies (Jet Li) are among my favourites.
