Pellandro the 'other' Blue... is it me, or is it easy to imagine a Reservoir-Dogs style discussion in which the Wizards are given their colours...?

***

PELLANDRO: Why do I have to be Pellandro the Pink? Can't I be, like, Pellandro the Purple?

MANWE: You're not the Purple. You're the PINK!

RADAGAST: And why do I have to be the Brown? That's damn close, to, like, Radagast the Crap!

SARUMAN: Will you just shut up?

RADAGAST: Oh, it's ok for you. You got a COOL colour...

Gandalf's physical form died, but being Maiar his spirit went back to the west, where Varda or someone sent him back to finish the job and gave him a power up to become the "white"

An extra note...just to ahve it all in there...

Gandalf and those other helpers of the Valar are lesser in power than the Valar themselves..that much has already been said. Sauron used to be equal to them as well...but being the converted apprentice of Melkor (Morgoth in Quenya language...the Valar that was the strongest of the angels created by Iluvitar who thought himself equal to the Creator because he had more given to him from the beginning than the others...) gave some of his power to Sauron. That is what made Sauron more powerful than Gandalf. But truely, the Valar cast-out Melkor was the baddest of them all! It actually took divine intervention to get rid of him. The Valar just allowed Sauron to stay to maintain a balance of good and evil.

And just for those who cares, he used to follow Aulë, one of the more powerful Valar. Third in power, I would assume, right after Manwë and Ulmo.
