Neo: Just leave the sixth slot empty. If you don't really need anyone else, having a sixth party member is simply less XP for the rest.

my question is how do you deal with mages when using an all fighter party - "the blasted begger's immune."

bash bash bash away - elemental damage - magical and non-magical weapons (and maybe an inquisitor)

and waiting round the corner while the protections wear off

oh and sniping from a distance

I'm sure there's a weapon or two in the game that can cast "miscast magic" upon hitting its particular target, which would certainly help against pesky mages. Having a couple of tanks with solid enough resistances to sit out their defenses would be mandatory though, as would the usual snipery surveilance. But when it doubt, hide and wait.

@Irondragon
I started my most recent game as mostly neutral but have gradually been goaded into villainy (neutral evil). I love the evil characters and think ToB in particular really seems to tempt one into roleplaying in this direction. Be sure to give it another chance sometime, you won't regret it. What about the Rings of the Ram? I think they hit through anything and are usable by anyone. You can get one by giving in Valygar, one by picking Tolgerias' pockets and one by killing him in the Sphere. And because of the hard-coded recharge-with-container bug they have huge cheating potential.

To each their own I guess.

I can’t stand any of the evil characters Viconia especially. These are not people I would wish to associate with. And role playing evil…just leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.

[/QUOTE]To each their own, I guess... But oh man, if you haven't tried it, you should. And I mean wait until you're in a terrible mood and play a Chaotic Evil sorceror. Great fun for a few hours.

I really don’t like playing evil…and I can’t stand any of the evil NPC’s
I'm the exact opposite. I find 'good' NPC's tend to be naive, meddling, hypocritical irritants. Just look at Aerie. Throughout SoA, all she does is whine. And you keep cutting her slack, letting her proceed with the relationship at her own slow pace.
Then *BAM*, come ToB, she's one bossy bitch. I've never met a group of pixels I've wanted to punch in the face, but Aerie comes close.

Keldorn is the same. He preaches about being good and noble, but then he has a strange urge to skewer Viconia merely for being in the same proximity. And he's tempted to hang his wife, just because he happens to be a piss poor husband.

Now Edwin, there is a realistic and entertaining character. Let's be honest... if you had the ability to bend reality and hurl fireballs at will, would you REALLY be prancing about helping idiots? Would you really restrain yourself from hurling a fireball or two if one of those halflings gave you lip?
Hell no. You're above these insects, and at least the Evil characters can recognize this. And at least Evil characters are honest about their intentions.
And at least they are entertaining.

Seriously, nothing brings me more delight than summoning a fiend, and unleashing it on townsfolk in bars who don't bow to my all-powerful bhaalspawn wizard.
