One very underrated spell is Spell Shield. As far as I know there is only one in SOA in stores. It protects the caster from first magical attack - and at the same time expires. And I haven't met an enemy in Tactics mod that tries 2 attacks. There is a very nasty combo of Spell Shield + SI:Abjuration. Most Liches cast Spellstrike first and after that Remove magic. Spell Shield absorbs Spellstrike and with SI:Abj. you're safe from dispelling (and Imprisonment!).

And it also prevents beholders from dispelling caster's magical defenses.

I thought spell shield only blocked the first protechtion stripping spell, so it'd block breach, spell strike and so on, all the realy nasty spells that can pull down all your defences at once, a great spell in that respect..

Hmmm... Idea forming..

Uhhhh....if you're whacking 'em with Carsomyr or the SotM, of course it will. But I've never seen them waking up from hits with any other weapon, and I use Greater Command all the time. Wonderful spell, especially when there's innocents around.
