User, you have 6 level 4 spells. And 5 level 8 and 9 spells, which you can't get without the experience cap removed.

Why does everybody like chain lightening so much? It always seems to fail miserably if I try it. About 15 damage to two, max of three enemies - i've never *ever* managed to kill an enemy with it. It seems like such a waste to me... Am I a lone voice?

use on a horde of low level creatures...with spell trigger...chain lightning in a spell trigger is a thing of terror..

its a party friendly spell, affects many creatures, and can be spell triggered...it might not kill them, but will hurt them a lot...

oh yeah, it looks cool..

Nothing a level 3 skulltrap won't do mind If they're low level creatures I'd just send my mage up ahead with a stoneskin and bob's your uncle. Doesn't matter that it's not party friendly because the rest of them just haven't bothered moving

I can see your point about its use, but it does seem like a waste of a level 6 spell slot to me...certainly fireball is more effective imo and your tanks aren't going to be bothered by getting one of those down their necks. Worthy of level five tops perhaps..?

EDIT: ooh, that's just inspired a new topic

Actually Assassin... he has 6 lvl 3 spells. Melf's Minute Meteors is not a lvl 4 spell, Userunfriendly. *cough*

I take it that your spell list is for a Party Sorcerer.

Skull Traps can be put in a Spell Serquencer. If you've got that in your spellbook, it's a waste of time, IMO, to use Spell Trigger for it. Why use triple Chain Lightnings if you can use ADHW? (okay, granted, it does look cool)

It may not look as nice, but ADHW has a larger radius of effect, and not as many enemies are immune to magical damage as to electrical damage. And, it usually does a whole crapload more damage than even a triple Chain Lightning Spell Trigger.

true...i like having BOTH...load up chain contingency with a triple abi, and spell trigger with remove magic, chain lightning, lightning...

also, i really like having several party friendly direct damage spells scattered thru my spell book, so as one spell level is used up, i have others to fall back on before i rest...i mean i tend to run out of eighth level spells and 9th level spells pretty fast,
