I also hate flayers - they were my ultimate foes. But that was before I discovered.....dun dun DDUUNNNNNNNNN........... Chaotic Commands. It makes you immune to their deadly methods leaving you free to hack them to pieces, mercilessly giving them their own medicine MWA HA HA! Now my ultimate foes are the damn dragons!

major, major cheese ahead...
urm...with minsc and jae in the party, do you have tob installed??? did you do all the quests in chapter 2??? are you able to select a high level ability for minsc??? and do you have any arrows of detonation??? give minsc deathblow, or g deathblow, and one arrow of detonation or some fireseeds... cast deathblow or g deathblow, just before going into a room full of mindflayers... watch them ALL die... this even works in tactics mod...my favorite and proudest cheese...area effect deathblow... I hate them damn things too, just not as much as before
. What I do is use my thief (that I recently got to level 50, using exp cap remover from www.teambg.com) to fill a hallway with all the traps I can, then have him equip something to protect him from psionics, hide in shadows, back stab run into a corridor, traps go off, and most likely the whole squad of enemies are dead. Umber Hulks are easily dispatched with any death magic, though Mind Flayers/Ilithids/Ulithiards have decent magic resistance (still, with my level 41 sorceror, its no problem , gotta love lower magic resistance spell).
