Visions of Pain
Level: 6
Range: 30 yards
Casting time: 6
Duration: Special
Area of Effect: Target Selected
Saving Throw: vs. spells

This spell causes the caster to send horrific visions of death, torture and pain into the mind of the target. The target will have to save vs. spells or his soul will escape him, and he will fall to the floor as a soulless corpse. If the target does make a save, he will still lose 20 hit points due to the extreme level that his soul was pushed just to survive. Whether the target lives or dies, 5 hit points are gained by the caster to his max HP for 1 turn. The effect is cumulative.

So....it's a Level 6 spell that combines an enhanced Finger of Death with Larloch's Minor Drain, where Finger of Death itself is Level 7?

I too was shocked. When you consider that level 6 is probably one of the worst levels for spells, this spell is too good. So, it does 20 damage and gives the caster +5 HP if the save is successful. Does the +5 HP stack? And it also has a chance to kill? In SoA, this spell would kill almost anything, especially when combined with Doom/Greater Malison.

I was wondering if anyone had won playing solo without disabling the XP cap. I mean, 2.9 million was probably specifically selected so that the SoA opponents never met a 9th level spell. Even if the scripting language was robust enough, it is encountering situations outside its coding.

Reading the threads, I see recommendations of Improved Alacrity, Time Stop, yada, yada, Wish, but that sounds like at least three more 9th level spells than the opponents were designed for.

Yes, people have. See Elmonster's journal on Baldurdash for an example.

If you take ToB into account, a solo Sorcerer cannot handle every situation.

Technically yes, you can, but you have a better chance of simultaneously striking the lottery, have a beautiful girl/guy fall into your lap and have world peace.

This is simply because of... something known as the...
