Personally I like having my limbs attached and being alive. I was at level 10 when I decided to take on the dragons. I did try to melee without any summons and it was not pretty. The next time I only went into melee when his status was almost dead.

Heres what I always due, I postition my party around him (circular), have my thief lay down their traps, cast spell protectionsm conjure some stuff, use dragon equipment and then attack him. This way if he knocks the people in front of him unconscience, he has to worry about the ones behind him and to his sides before he worries about his fireball attack, so usually for me, he almost never uses it.

Also, would it be posible to get stoned off the potion bottles?
And if your a ranger, or a Druid, wouldn't you be particularly offended about the littering of the potion bottles?
