Oh but wait, silly me. The whole reason that populations were sparse and uncentralized in the Early Bronze Age is because there was a huge nuclear holocaust which wiped out a vast amount of the Meditteranean region and population! No! The level of settlement in this period, whilst not indicative of an industrialized culture, is still widespread enough to discount the remotest possibility of a nuclear war (with after-effects such as fallout and radioactive posioning of soil). Remember, Meditteranean society does not just include Greece and Egypt. There were people everywhere. But how can I be so sure? Well shit, I guess I just can't. But don't treat speculation and fantasy as fact! ***edit*** to correct silly spelling mistakes. [ 08-24-2002, 05:38 AM: Message edited by: The Hierophant ]

If we shouldn't treat speculation and fantasy as fact, presumably that will have to include theories as well -- which are ultimately just perhaps a more disciplined form of speculation, though speculation all the same. And what you've posted is basically just... theories, which in your own words we must not equate too hastily with fact. After all, no one ever travelled back 5,000 years in time to see what things were actually like back then. (Same applies for those who imagine that some ancients had lasers and nukes, of course...)

In my ever so humble opinion, the idea that there exist major civilizations of an advanced nature sharing our planet with us is just a fantasy. These speculations are right up there with astrology, telepsychics and teleevangelists. Im not saying there are no small primitive groups of people hiding in some small crevice somewhere. But atlanteans, lemurians etc and or civilizations sunken or under ground are totaly out of the question. Well that is my opinion...no one else has to share it |
