What we need is to find middle ground. Where things aren't controlled completely, but where there is a certain degree of control so that people don't ruin everything through stupidity. No extreme of any social ideal will ever work, but the perfect mix of them all, will.

Yes it is, (to a certain extent)
All have a duty towards all, since all production requires the social and communal effort.
(IMHO, YMMV)
I will use Japan as an example of why its not the rest of the worlds job to give 3rd world farmers handouts. The Japaneese had a great idea that I wish my countrie would use. It was called "Isolationism". For many years the emperors in Japan sunk any ship that came near their shores and refused to trade with the rest of the world. Their unique culture thrived and flourished without ANY influence or goods from the outside.

As far as I am concerned if a small chain of islands in the pacific can do that on limited resouces , so can the rest of the world. There are no handouts in nature , you are either the lion or you are dinner.I preffer to not be dinner. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, let him figure out how to get fish on his own and maybe get rid of the competition.

GRAB A KLEW!!!

The reason why Nippon “flourished” was because the peasants were greatly exploited and used,
by a small elite who lived wonderful lives at the peasant’s expense.
For the noble life was mostly all flowers and roses, For the ordinary people who made up the vast majority of the population life was nasty brutish and short.

FUEDALISM IS BAD!!!!

ROTFLMAO!!!

America wields such power over the world now, and the economy all is so interconnected that such a thing is both impossible and the gravest foolishness
You’re chasing a ghost ideology there.

No it can't,
Japan was NOT an industrialised economy, it's standards of living were extremely low.
Whereas now, the U.S.A's economy cannot exist with out importing vast amount's from the rest of the world, globalisation means that we all become interdependent, if you want the living standards you have now, you cannot afford to become isolationist.

So what you are basically saying is that you want a good living standard for yourself and the rest of the U.S.A, and you’re don't give a monkey's about the rest of the world?

Well that’s really good, Ronnie Raygun would be proud.

Sorry that idea doesn’t work,
human society is not natural, the very fundamental premise of it subverts that idea.

So shall we let all the old people, and young people die then? Since they can’t always take care of themselves.
Heck lets start killing the disabled people too, they just use up our valuble resources don't they.

first, the emperors of japan did nothing but arrange flowers all day.the islands were actually governed by the shogunate in tokyo.and they did trade with the rest of the world.they just did it through the dutch at the port of nagasaki.and japan's culture did not flourish during this time,it became stagnant and fell behind the rest of the world.and that's why the japanese decided to embrace so much of the western technology, they did not want to end up like the rest of asia.

Your only half right , Dram. I want a good standard of living for people who can do it for themself. Look at the Indians still living in isolation in the jungles of South America. Do you think they have a low standard of living just because they lack electricity and running water? Do they look to the rest of the world for handouts?? You can realy look at almost any native people who still live apart from the rest of the world. They build houses, gather food and live quite well by their standards. It isnt about money or things , it is about being self sufficient and takeing care of ones self.

Your right about my not careing though. The rest of the world could go right down the flusher and it wouldnt bother me one bit. Young, old , weak , sick , disabled all are just lion food in nature. It is also that way in the working world, Only the best qualified get hired. To quote a southern expression "you either sh!t or get".

As for making Ronnie proud , I certainly hope so !! IMHO he was the greates American president of my life time , so far. He didnt get walked on like George Bush , he didnt get caught cheating on his wife , like that clown Clinton, and he certainly wasnt a jesus freak like the current crazie , Dubya.

That is a profoundly ignorant view,
which also demonstrates a fundamental failure to grasp the principles on which human societies must operate if they are not to collapse.

That genuinely *is* what Hitler thought, you’d be right at home with most Fascists.

Ronnie Raygun was an incompetant fool, and is now currently a vegatable. He genuinly was an utterly weak and spineless man, I just hope you feel rightfully ashamed of yourself.
