That day I merely accomplished standing up for myself, what I believe in, and against censorship. If you have a problem with that, oh well, I doubt I'll lose any sleep. Oh yeah, our other classmates, the ones who said it didnt matter to them if our presentation include rap and punk music. Who protested that it wasnt fair right along with us and cheered when we playyed the music anyway. Yeah, we really annoyed all of them into a one day suspension for ignoring directions from an administrator. You say you stood up for your self, and that you defied authority...do you think no one has authority over you? or that it is uhnearned? Those teachers paid their dues in years of sweat and hard work so that they could try...just try to help those who came after them to get through the necessary stuff so that their lives just might be easier. You focus on what you preceive as a power trip, I focus on a roudy kid who just wants to cause problems and who has no life experience in the real world as of yet.....(Im speaking in general now not about you in particular or me either for that matter)

It would be a severe waste of energy for me to take offense to anything on these boards.

I had a small viewpoint, not all the answers. As for being young, those events occured in 1989. The new speech teacher the following year gave me full support in realizing a similar project that was a video documentry.

Umm if this is how you treat everyone who tries to understand you, no wonder you don't get much in the way of support...I made reasonable inquiries and did my best to get a dialog going and all you do is turn and around and attack me for asking questions. I had as much right replying to your post as anyone on IW, this is a free and open forum...or so I thought...maybe you might look at your hostility issues. And I will point out that that you seem to want to portrey me as accusing you of being young..I didt in my post explain to you that I was not talking about you or me specificly in that sentence but in the general sense of you or me or they and them..so please quit trying to find offense where there is none.

I stand for quite a few things and have put my life on the line to protect them on several occasions so you don't have a lock on the "cause" thing.

My last thought on this is that if make a post and someone asks questions..maybe you should try and answer them instead of alienating them...at least when the questions are honest and on topic.

Nowadays teachers and school administrators are basically a bunch of out-of-touch hypocrites who have no idea what would be best for any student. I'm sure if they were forced to go through the schools they work in, they would hate it. I applaud what Chewbacca did, at least if his teachers were real jerks, and I think that you lecturing him was totally uncalled for, especially since you probably don't know the full details of the situation. Not everyone has to be establishment-loving.

I remember a story my sister told me about her son - he was having a discussion with his friends the week after Columbine, and he mentioned that he could understand why the kids could be angry at their peers - after all, he was picked on for much of his life - and some idiot kids at the next table overheard it, thought "he's going to go shoot people", and told the principal, who sent him home for the day. Bear in mind that he thought Columbine was a tragedy and he never said he agreed with Harris and Klebold at all. Things like this are beyond ridiculous, and these idiots need a swift kick in the rear.
