Avatar I think that Lanthir meant that always there is a slight support given to the hosting country. That is what happened for example at the Euro 2000 on the match between Holland and the Chech(sp?) republic.
I am NOT saying that all the competitions are rigged in favor of the host but they DO get some slight "advantage".The referee is less likely to give ,say, a penalty kick against Japan on the 90th than on another "minor" team such as Senegal. @Lanthir You're the one who started the challenge! You name the bet!

they are international Avatar and here I though tthey all came from the South Pole. the thing syou learn on iw boards.
As was pointed out I was referring to the chance that the host country might get special treatment. Let alone some soem fo the standard bad calls i ahve seen. like a few weeks ago when a guy slide into oen fo our playrs with both cleats high into his upper thigh justa few feet above the ball and no card was given. To answer the question We have Portugal as the big guy in thE group then South Korea, the US and to be honest I forgot the fourth team. We open aganist Portugal on the 6th. I am just glad the games will be shown on the TV here and not just the US ones on tape delay.. First up is France at 7:45 in the morning tomorrow. So you will not see me here till it is over.

well, in a group with portugal and poland i don't think the us have much of a chance. They got the right attitude, but lack the talent. I saw them play against holland in boston last week and it didn't look good.

I would suggest Lanthir knows quite a lot about the world brand of football guys, and the US have surprised in the past by making the 2nd round.
