I've read some literature referring to young dwarves as not-yet-with-beard (though written more eloquently). I've always assumed it's a function of puberty.

I think they hide away their beardless kin until they are no longer pansy (like elves) with long, facial hair!

I think they just tell everyone they're gnomes until the beards grow in.

It gets really confusing for the young dwarves. Some of the less brilliant children actually cry when their beards start coming in (especially the girls) because they've heard all of their lives that they're a "gnome" - they get confused.

Dwarf coming-of-age ceremony: "From today - ye no longer be a gnome, now ye be a dwarf!"

Gnorr -> Dor
Gnalin -> Dvalin

Finally finished one piece of art - phew! (How long has it been?!)

This time, to make the most of it, I did a palette swap for variety (2 versions) - perhaps I will do this for subsequent art as well (who knows which people will find more useful)...

Anyway, it is a rather pious-looking knight (palette swapped to a Cleric of Heironeous for Greyhawk). Icon to be coming soon.

Stupid notifier...didn't tell me there were any new posts in this thread.

In some dialects of dwarven, "Gnorr" becomes "Dwor".

So why is it that we're not writing supplements for 1e? I'm going to work even harder on getting the DMG into html. But, I probably won't get far until December comes along. Once we get some 1e books web-ized we can start adding our own material. It should work for OSRIC too. (By the way, I discovered that all of their books are free, that is the official OSRIC releases including the Monster Manual or whatever they call it. Previously, I had just thought the rules were free.)

Yay! It's only been two and a half months...since your site was updated, but only a couple of weeks since you posted new content in the forum. I'm gong to go look at them, and then get back to work.

Heh, heh... Actually, I did update the site a little bit in between, but I was lazy and did not update the top page, so... (Mac is a bit harder to use than Windows, so I am getting lazy...)

Perhaps I will work on the Greyhawk books if you are doing the rulebooks
