Brendon
Watching the arrow burrow into the blackened creature was a good-feeling sight to see. Brendon admitted to himself that he enjoyed his kills. His mind was preoccupied so much with this dark fascination that he never saw the ax comign his way. Too late to have reacted, Brenddon jumped after the swipe that barely missed him, tripping over his own feet and falling to the floor, letting loose the arrow that was notched to sail straight up to the cavern's ceiling. Looking up, expecting the creature to bare down on him, he instead saw Dantes leap to the rescue, takeing a solid strike at the blind beast. "Thanks! I owe you one!" |

ruby attack again, landing only two claws and a bite to one creature. she stumbles back when attempting to rake with her hind paws, but catches her balance before falling. wyrd quickly swipes at one and then the other of the last two. and then scans the area for another in need.

Rhianneth
No sooner had she burped did she swing her staff around with customary ease, not forgetting to exert what little strength she had in her wiry arms. Cursing softly as one grimlock staggered backwards moaning in pain, she turned her attention to the remainder and chanted the words of magic - *poof* - the creature wailed as ten jets of burning hot flames emerged from her finger tips, sending it to its fiery death. There was still time left, she saw. And she hurriedly directed the trajectories to the resilient grimlock. Before long, it, too, lay lifeless on the ground. She smiled contentedly at the smell of charred flesh. No one can say I didn't do my part... |

Syrathic watched as an arrow struck the beast, finishing it off. The howls of its death cry filled the cave for a moment, then fell silent. "Nice shot, Brendon," he thought, knowing that his friend was the only one firing arrows. "I'm especially glad I moved, else he wouldn't have had a clear shot. Now to see if anyone needs my help."
ooc: It looks like things are pretty well in hand now. Syrathic is still a little ways ahead of the group, so it would probably take him a round to get in to a position to help anyone (except Brendon, who is the closest to him). |

Welcome back, TAO!!!!
THE TREEHOUSE Zhydo’rah Powerful is the thinking of the little man. Powerful and relentless even in its fear. Yes, great is his love of learning, great enough that his fear of losing it is a feast such like she has never enjoyed before. There is no need to hurry things. No, a taste such as this is meant to be savored. Cracked lips turn upward in delight and the harsh guttural notes of her laughter pollute the air within the treehouse. There is not only the rich taste of fear to be found within the vibrant nightmares of the sage. There is also knowledge. She questions the groundings of his most sweeping thoughts not simply to torment him, but to surface a few overlooked facts and nuances of word usage – small and unimportant things to most, perhaps, but the devil, as they say, is in the details. The air around her stirs slightly with the now familiar scent of that trace of the Laughing Malice which fills her lungs. Yes! O yes! You have done well, little Zhydo’rah ..... The whisper lingers within her ears and a fierce pride burns in her eyes. [ 12-17-2002, 08:27 PM: Message edited by: Cyril Darkcloud ] |

ooc: Time to wrap up the battle and make use of Cerek’s time away to move the story along.
Zachary Thorson It took a few moments to adjust to the confused reality of combat in such a place as this where sight and sound do not sem to work quite as they should. A few moments more were required to adjust to the movements of these new companions he had found. The thudding of axe heads against his heavy armor, however, served to focus his attention quickly. The blows were ineffective and by means of two simple spells he had immobilized his five attackers. A quick glance about him confirmed that the group seemed to have things well in hand and with a whispered prayer of thanks to Odin, Whose one eye sees all, he set upon the paralyzed grimlocks with the great hammer he carried. Stepping over their bodies, he reached Brendon’s side in time to crush the skull of the remaining humanoid warrior before it could recover from Morguerat’s attack. Taking a moment to collect his breath and his thoughts after the battle, he hears it – the ancient song, a song whose origin was already lost in mystery when the first and greatest of skalds cut its runic words into the trunk of the mighty oak in the Grove of Kings. To hear this song, the song of by which the gods themselves call to their chosen, is a no small gift. The voice which reaches his ears speaks the ancient words in the ancient way and with a subtle beauty no earthly tongue could muster. His face takes on an exultant cast. The call has been heard and he must seek its source. As the others search the battle site, he explains himself simply to Morguerat, hoping that this might be a sign to the fallen knight of the unexpected nearness of the gods to those whom they favor. Then after, raising he Eye of Odin in blessing over the group, he speaks the word of recall that will carry him to the surface near the spot where the group had camped the previous night. ooc: All of the grimlocks have been slain and the battle is now finished. Zachary has left the group for now, but his blessing will heal whatever minor wound the characters have suffered. Morguerat - Not long after Zachary leaves a sound not unlike laughter stirs the air near you ears and beneath your nose is the barest trace of the scent of the grave. |

After glancing around to see if anyone else heard the tinkling laughter, or showed a sign of smelling the grave rot, he dismissd it as a figment of his imagination. thinking I wish brother Zachary had not left, we shall be in dire straits when we finally need a healer, but if he heard Odin calling him, then there is naught for us to do but press on.
Suspiciously he glances at Rhianneth, as if silently accusing her for his halucinations, but no word is spoken as he quickly examines the corpses for signs of a tribe, or greater organization {I don't have humanoid heraldry so I imagine my efforts will not let me identify the tribe, but standard human heraldry should allow me to see if there are diferent markings, aside from leadership markings. I should (hopefully) be able to glean some(small bit of) information about whether they are from the same group, or a mixed patrol, ie from diferet clans of a city} taking care to leave any personal items alone (not looting for money or useable items, just looking for the heraldry, or other interesting information easily seen) [ 12-17-2002, 09:08 PM: Message edited by: Morgeruat ] |

Crysomer
Inside the head of a lion riding psychic "Well, I can see how much a chance to prove my abilities means to you, I could have dispatched those... things much more effectively than your 'claws' did, my psychic screamm power would have had the crying on the floor without so much as you lifting a finger. Why look at you, you got all dirty, you had better clean my scabbard off when you fools stop for a rest period, and oil it, no one likes it when their leather rots. I might even consider telling you my name if you take extra good care of me, and bury me inside the guts of an evil nasty monster" Seeming almost smug the thoughts trail off, that is if a sword that enjoys speaking volumes about it's powers could be considered smug. ![]() OOC: thought it would be fun to bring back the sword for a moment, for those joining late, Ruby is the only one who can hear the sword unless you have a psionic talent and consciously decide to "listen in" or unless it chooses to voice itself aloud. |
