So I tested this out, and it works as you said (I did a dragon head come down from above and breathe on the combat like Golden Axe, only thing was this dis-embobied head showed that there should have been a body attached ). Just to recap, you can have as big a "coverage sprite" as you want (altho you prolly wanna stay within the combat frame...). Too bad my artwork is so-so

Maybe someone here on the forums can help you out with the art you need...

yeah, I'm gonna need to ask for help. I cannot draw people or creatures (or backdrops). Can't do much in a mod without them . Figure I'm not going to do the "annoyingly long maze with no encounters", just bcz I need some art lessons (badly ).

Art just like anything else - practice, practice, practice. Sometimes you have to work smarter instead of harder, which is why I use DAZ|Studio - no matter how long I practice I won't be able to turn out the great work that Dinonykos and Uatu are. But, my icons and walls are so much better now than when I started, that it's like I'm not even the same person.

Yeah - things definitely get better as you go on. (The first icons, etc. are always going to be test attempts, just because you haven't made any yet - the 5th and 6th time will always produce better stuff )

Smarter also helps, too!

Well, I've managed to learn one shading technique from MS-Paint, you resize to like twice the size of the picsize you want to end up with and then put a black background, then cut it out and resize back down and it'll have the primary color and an outline that is a darker shade.
