One more question, has anyone done any animated pics? I mean, even just opening the small pic pool under the global settings sets up the normal picture controls *which include number of frames and millisec between frames* (remember the chick that winked at you in FRUA, who I guess was a witch (or else it was her without her make-up ))

There is a pic of an animated portal here at Ironworks. I'm sure I tried it out, b/c I started working on one of my own, which I never finished.

It works well. I've used it in one of my designs.

So how hard would it be to make walls that are animated (or overlays)? I'm not sure how it works, but it'd seem to be a similar process as the other graphics displayed (but then again it might require multiple "frames" of the wall that make it so there is a much larger download to play a mod...)

Right now, DC only supports animation for small pics.

But even if it did for walls, I'm not sure that it would be feasible. For example, 1 frame of the walls that I'm currently using is 2k+ pixels. Now, imagine a very simple 10 frame torch animation...way too big to work with. It's not just the size of the download, but a pic this size, even one color, eats up so much RAM that it locks my system up.

Right, and there is no support for color cycling . I guess then that if you want a torch on the wall you'd have to use a sprite.

No color cycling- to do that we'd need have a 256-color palette for the art, and if I'm not mistaken, b/c of the way MFCs works it would have to be 256-color for everything.

We've had the sprite discussion B4, whet would rock is the option for non-standard sprites so you could have more than 3 frames , and of course still have the 3 frames for FRUA compatability

Once the sprite feature is available for events other than the 1 that is currently allowed, i.e. as an option for every event that allows a small pic, I think we'll be able to use sprites that are more than 3 frames. It might even be that if you use an alpha channel that you can use small pics instead of sprites, in which case we can already do 4+ framed sprites.

Of course, you can fake it. Make a small pic that has the same background image as the current selected backdrop
