How dare she have the audacity to have a different view of the world than that of the born again Christian religious terrorist leader GW Bush and all his hate filled bible misreading bile speaking righteous fundamentalist supporters. There should be calls from the im moral majority to ban her show because freedom of thought and speech belongs only to the religious right wing. People like her don't deserve the right to express views that differ from those that Fox news tell us to have

What is the use of freedom of speech if someone is going to use it to disagree with my view of the world?

1. The media...
2. People who have status but no sense...
3. People...

From merriamwebster.com:
"the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion"
"one that inspires fear"

From the official press release:
""Don't be sorry for the soldiers. They fought with honor and they died with honor. We will find the lost soldiers, and anyone who was involved will pay," the 25-year-old platoon leader says".

Where then does honor end and terrorism begin?
Can this line be drawn?
Is that line crossable?

I have served in units with names like "Death Rider" and "Hounds of Hell". In my early days as a Cavalry Trooper 'I was baptized in fire and blood and came out steel AIY-EEE-AHH'!
In my not so smart days when I used to jump from a plane in flight, we were "Death From Above -Sky Soldiers"!

If you think for a moment we are not the terror of America I have some ocean front property in Arizona!

BTW: Fruitcakes have their rights as well as pound cakes and coconut flake pies! So do nuts in general, its when people actually give them air time is when their rights should be limited!

I will end this with a gift!

Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit de corps of my Ranger Regiment.

Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move farther, faster and fight harder than any other soldier.

Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be. One-hundred-percent and then some.

Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well-trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of dress and care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow.

Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country.

Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission though I be the lone survivor.

I have no idea where "MY" Army has gone!
Such a story!

Well, at the least from my standpoint, you or anyone else can disagree with my views. Doesn't mean I have to like it, or be quiet about it for that matter. I do however try not to let my disagreements with others overtly affect the way I treat them. Sometimes I'm more or less successful.

BTW just for the record I think that one of the 'lefts' greatest failures that continually comes back to haunt them was NOT to discriminate between the soldiers of both the USA and Australia who did the job asked of them in Vietnam with bravery and honour and the disgusting turds in power who controlled and abused that control over them. I hope that not too many of the left fail to make that difference again.
But it is refreshing to know that someone with non mainstream views can have access to proclaim there views on mainstream media.

Good post

That story that you link too should not in any disminish the pride you have in your uniform or oath to the rangers. There will always be incedents like this and I for one have not let it reduce one iota the respect I have for your band of brothers

I know its not fair and that is how life goes. I guess I just have a hard time with people being so amazingly insensitive and callous.

Personally, I believe she should be encouraged to continue spewing that crap, so that the whole world can see her for what she truly is. It has been put forward in this thread that we are in the Middle East for no reason, and to this I can only say, 9/11 was the reason for being in the Middle East. Iraq is not the only country in the Middle East, and it's not the only country that we are currently involved with.

Saddam was tried and executed by his own countrymen, for crimes against them. The combined forces in Iraq made removing him from power possible, and so, I suppose we can let the assumption that he was put in that situation by us stand. After all, Iraq couldn't have gotten him out of power on their own. I had believed that it was for crimes against his people, however, not war crimes.

Be that as it may, Rosie has her right to express her opinions, and I have my right to express mine, even to the point of saying that she is a worthless piece of crap, without being invited to leave my home. If we are to say that she is exercising free speech, then to disagree with her is also, and if we are to allow hers, then we should allow disagree-ing views. I don't subscribe to her opinions, and I don't even watch Fox News...

As a veteran, 891st Engineer Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, Misouri, I don't feel like I served in a terrorist organization. I was trained to kill, surely, and to blow things up as well, but I'd do it in a uniform, proudly declaring what "country" I served, and if you tried to surrender, I'd take you prisoner, w/out you having to worry about me broadcasting a video of me beheading you for something to do.

Indeed. The whole POINT of free speech is that anyone can voice their opinions, no matter how wrong they are. Opinions include hating other people's opinions and hating other people for their opinions.

Robert the Bard: The problem of giving a trial to an ex-dictator is that they have never actually committed any crimes. But you still have to get rid of the leader of the opposing country because that gives the war a nice sense of finality and prevents him from making a comeback. In the Bad Old Days they just axed the invadee right away, without messing about with accusations. But now, in this modern age of information technology, it pays to at least pretend you are the good guy, justly fighting the forces of darkness for a just cause. So we get a nice and happy mock trial, after which the evil overlord of evil is invariably executed. Well, sometimes exiled.
