I love that black and white pink nose/pink paws coloring you see in cats, lol. My first kitty, just a regular street cat I rescued had the same coat.

I'll check out that history to satisfy my curiousioty. I don't remember my aunts one too well, only that he had kinda longish hair and wasn't allowed outside.

My cats are indoor-only and don't mind at all. As long as they've got toys, play time with someone, a window to peek out of...they do fine. Aelia's right, you can buy little 'cat grass' kits in most pet stores (the seed used is not chemically treated the way most seed meant for lawns is in the US, as least) and my cats love that when I do bring it in. You can grow it from scratch or get the stuff already grown, like you mentioned.

I guess if you're going to keep taking her out, take it slow and watch her. She'll probably give you clues as to how cold she's feeling- that's the time to scoop her up and go inside. I wouldn't walk to far from your apt/house though.

Just keep in mind that if you're feeling chilled outside with coat/boots etc on, it's probably too cold for her to be out more than a few minutes. LOL, she may not even WANT to go out when it gets really cold this winter!

edit: One thing to remember, she may get snow trapped between her toes and that's really painful for them. If it packs in there, try to get it out as gently as you can - warm her toes so it melts (get her inside and try wrapping a towel around her )and dry them if she'll let you.

I think my cat is crazy. He's outside now, and it's pretty cold out there...I can't wait for our first snow, it's going to be interesting to watch him re-learn about the white stuff, if he's forgotten from last winter. By and large though, my experience with cats is that they will definitely let you know when they've had enough. Kitty will holler at me from the back porch when he's ready to come in. Rain is his arch nemesis though, he runs back and forth from the front door to the back, trying to see if it's not raining in one yard or the other. I said he was crazy.
