PCMCIA is an old standard. I still have some from the good old mid 90'es when I could afford to have a labtop. Anybody interested in a 3COM 3C689 16Mbs Token Ring net adapter and/or a PSION Gold Card 56k Fax/Modem + 10Mbs Ethernet adapter? Yeeeez these were fast and cool back then. I feel so old all of the sudden.

X300's aren't even that good though, they are quite cheap anyways. Laptops just generally are expensive.

- fast (at least 1.5Ghz)
- preferably Pentium M
- big HD (60GB+)
- WIFI connectivity
- DVD/CD/CDRW
- lots of ports

In annoying mood, so hate to burst your bubble, well not really, but GHz is a measure of frequency, not speed, and a big HD will have large dimensions, you want high capacity/density, right?
Lots of ports: well sure, with TCP (just install it under network protocols: you can have 60,000+ ports )

Mems, I'm talking to a friend who works for IBM, not sure we can do anything, but if we could, are you interested in IBM laptops?

I've never owned a laptop but I've heard they're good ones.

Just resurrecting this post...I think I've narrowed it down to two choices. Here are the choices:

It's massively cheaper for me to get it here as I can salary package it and buy using pretax $$$ which wipes off 50% of the retail price.

It's either going to be a Sony VAIO VGN-S48GP (same as the VGNS460P in the US I think) or an IBM Thinkpad T43. Anyone got experience with either of those models?
