Well, I've always used the web-based hotmail, and it's never been a big hassle for me. You don't have to enter your login and password if you set it up properly. You also don't see tons of ads. There's like, one or two on a page.

I can appreciate that having to pay for a service isn't 'improving customer experience', but to be fair, that's not what they said at all. They said that in order to improve customer experience in terms of spam and such, a fee would be charged so such problems could be addressed. They are under no obligation to offer this as a free service, and that they have for so long should be seen as a bonus rather than an entitlement. I think it's a bit of a stretch to liken people's apathy towards poverty and war and so on in far off lands to people doing nothing because a company is charging for services provided. And what are you doing about it anyway? Having a rant is all it seems.

You know you can create web links in much the same way as shortcuts..

Or didn't you know that..

So you can make a shortcut that targets hotmail login, simple..

You can on most browsers store login information like use names and passwords if you realy want to..

Also you could if your still usuing IE just start MSN messenger and click the new email's text, this'll get you into hotmail as well, and if you set it up right you don't have to enter your password at all..

It apparently won't effect you, so why are you complaining?

I've never used Outlook or anything like that for any of my email stuff, and I have survived just fine. I don't see the big deal in this, quite honestly. And as Q'alooaith (that is impossible to spell ), I just used MSN to get to my email.

Start emailing people using the gmail one. Telling them that's your new email.

Import your address book and send a group e-mail. Having said that, i don't know if it works on a hotmail one, but it will with ones of outlook.

So it really isn't a big problem to anyone. Especially with Gmail becoming public soon it appears...

Luvian it sounds like useless complaining to me:

Get MSN messenger, don't use it for anything but checking mail (ie. no contact persons)

Click on the link, directly into your hotmail inbox

Set spam filter on the highest level, receiving everything in junk mail unless you have it in your address list

The first month, check junk regularly, select any mails that should be in inbox and proceed

After that time, check junk mail once a week, selecting non-spam from it, if you get that there at all, put it in inbox, press EMPTY junk mail and you're done. You can do this in 1 minute.

This is not affecting me, this is affecting new members.

Raising public consience about the problem is certainly something more than just saying "there is no problem, the net is just one step closer to being paid only".
