Well as far as I know, there is no game card, just according to their website "Paybycash.com time card/number" which is really not a time physical card at all, just an indirect paypal option, so I plan to skip this game.

Alright I know I'm completly new to Iron Works but I'd like to throw in my 2 cents here.
If you go into DDO think that it's PnP only Online you are going to hate this game. The things that make PnP fun just aren't nearly as prominent in DDO. You aren't the center of the story here you're more like one of the adventuring groups who sit in the Yawning Portal. (Which I think is why I like this game so much but... yea...) Wizards and Turbine decided to use Eberron cause it is new and Turbine wouldn't have to worry about making sure it followed the what 20 year history of Forgotten Realms? Eberron is also a High Magic low level world which means easier to get magic items and no need to worry about being over shadowed by figures like Monshoon, Elminster, or many others. The lack of gods actuall is another feature that is very nice. The other issue about DDO is it takes place on Xendrix a jungle contient that is the remains of an ancient giant civilization so it should have the overrun jungle feel. Currently the Quests are a bit lacking and some are bugged but nearly all of them have become much much better since beta. The classes feel like they should. I've played fighter and rogue to levels 5 and a cleric to level 9. Let me tell you spell casters even at level 5+ start getting cool they just have to know how to pick spells and when to use them. The selection of feats is very basic but allows you to customize your character a bit but there still is the feal of the cookie cutter you get if you are just using the PHB for a PnP game. Combat is interesting if a bit unbalanced still. Melee is king of combat 100% Magic is second with ranged coming in closly behind. The fact that ranged combat is so slow and magic is just as slow leaves some balancing issues but again is much better since early beta and if you want to actually move magic on the heels of melle play a sorceer with an increased casting speed. Now while there are a lot of changes one thing remains the same between PnP and DDO. It's about who you play with. If you try to just play the game with whoever happens to be in the game you'll quickly get discouraged by the 7337 d00dz who play clerics and refuse to heal the party because they need the heals for them. But then again a PnP game can be ruined by the same type of person. However if you play it with a good group of friends who work together you can find a lot of enjoyment out of the game. People complain about no storylines or anything like that in the game but those people are the ones not reading the quests. The quests are actually really cool and in fact you can run a series of quests for one of the churchs that has you descend in to a crypt to find out why the dead are rising from the crypt. As you head down you find out it was the head of the churches daughter who after you kill tells you she was tortured and killed by here father so she would do it. You go to the head of the church and find out he's actually a wraith. The stories are theer you just have to read. One thing of particular note is the module model Turbine is using. they are coming out with the first next month which has a dungeon you fight through that is actually kinda like an extradimensional vault and you get to fight a Huge-Colossual Red Dragon. The other thing that is really cool is that turbine wants to eventually release a set of module creation tools that players can create modules for the game and submit them for approval and then have them added to the game. Personally from the unity of the Ironworks people if we all picked a server and got DDO we could really have a good time... Especially anyone who likes the Undermountain Mod Ziroc does as really thats what it's all about. Getting your adventuring party together and taking on a dungeon. |

Well, there is a fine point in there -- we should start a thread regarding our server and our character and perhaps start trying to experience this game together.
