Thank you for the responses to my question but I still don't feel like it is answered : /. What is in GW's grind that isn't in WoW?

So far the way people are describing it seems exactly as WoW is...moving unto new things when you feel you're ready, storylines and chain-quests...am I missing something here?

Edit : Also, what are the games specs? The official specs on the box can rarely be trusted I have found, so asking some people who actually play it.

What storylines are there in WoW. I thought it was create a character and run around. Is there a storyline linking all your events ?

If you're asking me if every single quest in WoW is linked to the last then, no. There are quest series and chains, ending with rewards or specific events that come about as a result of completeing these chains. There are also 'one-off' standalone quests some of which can be somewhat linear and some of which can be somewhat detailed.

But you certainly don't run around and kill things and that is all. There are numerous factions and NPC's, diverse locations and geography, a rich history and 'flesh' to the world that gives quests a reason to be done. Even if it's as simple as the low-lvl Undead players task of poisoning the humans' pumpkin patch...you know you are doing it to aid the forsaken in their war and helping to push the aggressors from their territory.

OMG, I heard in guild wars that you can't even run and jump, or even swim?!?! Also, there is one race, human. is this really true??

Someone also said that you can't jump down a small cliff for a shortcut, you run into a bounding box, and you're all alone unless you are in a city. true???

In guildwars you can run. In Guild wars you can't jump up a cliff but you can jump.

There is only one race but a few different professions that you can combine with other prefessions to make unique characters. There are hundreads of skill that you can lean to make your character unique.

Its not the typical RPG where you can be a human, dwarf, elf or orc.

Well for one thing, diehard fans of the Warcraft franchise can't get enough of WoW. Believe it or not, there is so much lore in this world (especially if you've ever played the RTS's) and players of the RTS will love to find their favorite heroes and do quest storylines relevant to the lore of the game.

Secondly, there are some mighty fine epic questlines out there. *cough* Onyxia *cough*

WoW is hardly running around and doing quests. Especially at higher levels. When you are on lvl 50+, all you do is raid epic dungeons such as Blackrock Spire, BlackRock Depths, Molten Core, Dire Maul, etc. Among these raids, characters will also find themselves immersed in a great PvP system, and now with the addition of the Honor system there is more to the game than just raids and levelling. When Battlegrounds is finally complete, people will probably care less about their levels, and more about razing the enemy town.

I will tell you one thing, WoW is definately not a stagnant and repetitive game.

I agree, there is more lore than any MMO I've ever played. As far as the storyline...well your race and faction determines it and the nature of your quests. Since in WoW you can play good and evil and have it actually mean something.

I don't like the idea of constraint in an MMO myself. Being able to jump off a cliff or swim anywhere is a huge part of what I love about WoW...I can't imagine going back to invisable barriers etc.

To be honest, if you consider the fact that WoW is PPM, it's bound to be more "filled" than GW, and there is bound to be more things to do. Mind you, as a killer WC fan (who actually played WC1 last night ) I wouldn't really be swayed away by guildwars.

I've had those slumps of boredom too in WoW (yes I know, a bit late). I don't find advancement or items worth working towards, but I had so many people who were fun to play and RP with that none of that mattered.

Unfortunately, most of them have disappeared. My main's and my alt's guilds fell apart, and having nobody to play with makes me find other entertainment.

I consider WoW to be a reasonably fleshed out world and pretty much the epitome of this first generation class/level/treasure hierarchical style of play, and 5 months is a good run for any game. Btw, Stranglethorn relieved me of the boredom I had from the last 2 zones I was in (The Wetlands and Duskwood) lol. Just goes to show, different strokes for different folks and all that.

I had a question though, is there any way I can not pay my account but save my characters for a later date? I don't want to play for awhile, but neither do I want to lose my characters for future expansions and content patches. I'm definately going to play...just not now.

They don't delete your chars no matter how long you quit for. This is their policy.
