Guild wars looks good but I dread going back to non-p2p games. I know, I thought I'd never say it but having GM's policing games is a godsend. I came from NWN's online which was absolute hell for hackers, griefers, kids etc. I also fear that since Guild wars is PVP oriented it will attract most of these immature children who think they're 'l33t'. Owning a credit card really does serve to seperate the idiots from the adults (for the most part). So....I'll hold out on Guild wars until I get some opinions.

You can't force other players to PvP in Guild Wars Spirit, the PvP and PvE parts of the game are totally seperated although you can use the same characters for both.

What character did you end up playing as? In beta I really liked horde, but I might play alliance. |

I played the beta for wow too, Tauren here. Are there an equal number or horde and alliance players now?
I've been too busy with eq2 to know what the deal is

Although I am a solid Warcraft fan and WoW fanatic, I will say this right now.
At the moment, EQ2 is much better than WoW. WoW is an unfinished product. There is nothing truly unique about this MMO right now, and even though it is selling like wildfire it is still not the all time best selling MMO. Hell, the difference between PvP and PvE is practically nothing. The fact is that Vivendi (Blizzards owner) was pushing WoW for release at the end of fourth quarter so they could get holiday money and such. Blizzard didn't want to, but Vivendi pushed them. Blizzard intends to add a lot of features and content via patches, and then we will see if it is truly a unique MMO. But right now, it looks like a solid, standard game. Nothing more, nothing less. |

So is EQ2 SecretMaster, I didn't see them implement anything unique either.
But we're talking about MMORPGS. They hold back content on purpose for the monthly updated and expensions. I think we can only really have this discussions in a year after both games have released their content. I know I can't wait for the Battlegrounds. [ 01-03-2005, 03:01 PM: Message edited by: Luvian ]

Tried both of 'em and have to say WoW hands down. First impressions of EQ2 was...well...that it's ugly as hell.
All these potentially system-hogging graphics and the zones really looked bad to me. I love the bright colors in WoW. Everything is so vibrant. I mentioned this to a friend the other day and he said "I think EQ2 just looks more realistic". I thought about it and responded "If that's reality then why are you playing it?". First team impressions, people were very rude. Yes, yes I know, you can't judge simply by a handful of people but when you risk your neck to keep someone alive and they then make off with all the dropped and spawned loot and promptly quit the team without a word, it doesn't leave you wanting to team again. And yes, I know there are looting settings but I was a lowly noob and they knew that. I gave it a chance. I rolled 3 chars on EQ but after 1 week I gave up and went to WoW. Was blown away really.
