Where did the term "spam" originate from?

I think this [img]graemlins/1puke.gif[/img] smiley sums up how SPAM tastes (I haven't tried it, but I know a lot of people who have).

spam isn't actually that bad, unless you try and eat it without cooking it, frying it in a pan, or microwave helps alot, as does a little ketchup, and some bread.

hmm, perhaps i should pose the question, what's everyones favorite way to prepare SPAM.

It's actually edible, pan-fried, preferably in bacon grease, and served on a sandwich with mustard. Not that I have done that lately; Galadria frowns on spam.
