Morning, all. Partly cloudy, today, but not very cold (41 degrees F). Things are back to normal, finally. You should have seen all of the dishes and pots we had to clean. That Corn Crust Chicken is a mighty fine dish, but very messy and had on the (huge) roasting pan. Cloudy, I hope your cold is better and your co-worker less malignant. Kat, are you posting from school? Or did you reconsider dialup?

Good morning all. Happy 03/03/03 Day!!!! At least where I live it's 03/03/03, anyway.

SPAM ALERT SPAM ALERT! Kaltia is in the building. Good to see you Kaltia.

News for the day: Pulaski Day. Pulaski Day is a Chicago/Cook Co. holiday honoring a Civil War (US of course) hero named Pulaski (of course). It is celebrated only in Cook Co., IL. How do I know all this? The courts are closed and my wife (Rain) has the day off. The federal courts are not closed, however. I mention this because it seems to me that the Cook Co. state employees got together and simply cooked up an extra holiday. How fair is that?

Other news item: TAXES SUCK. Okay, that's not news. But, did my taxes this weekend, and no matter how creative I get I'm stuck coughing up about $4K by April 15. Just when things were looking up.

Nice to see you could manage to pop in Kaltia.

Cloudbringer I installed that firewall program you suggested in the other thread, it's completely free right? (Zonealarm)

Hi all! *giggles at TL's spam alert*

Sigmar, yes, as far as I know, Zone Alarm is free. There's a higher end version (zone alarm pro, I think- or something like it) that you pay for, but Nacht and several friends of mine use ZA and like it, so since it's free, I suggested it. I like my Black Ice Defender and it's very highly rated, but it's not a freeware type program. I think I paid about $40 for it a few years ago.

ACK taxes...I have to gather all my little pieces of paper and go do mine soon. BLECH! Usually I get a refund but I just hate finding all the pieces of paper.... my study isn't exactly a neat and tidy place these days!

It is amazing how people get when a person is about to pass on, it does one of two things to a soul, makes them mean or make's them a saint. My father still holds to this life but wil soon pass on and I am thankful his pain will be at an end soon. Remember to tell those that you love, that you love them because before you know it they are gone.

Speaking of those, Cloudy, we found an error on the NY Tax form IT200. If you use that and are taking any deductions for IRAs, Student loan interest, tuition payments, or several other things, then you'll see when you fill out form IT200, the number's don't add up. It's because there's supposed to be a line telling you to enter in all your federal deductions, but it isn't there. It'll even say, this line should match such-and-such line on your federal form (and it won't because they forgot to ask for deductions). If you fill out IT201, the line's there. It made the difference from me paying $75 and me getting back $8. Just passing along the info. I wonder how many New Yorkers will wind up overpaying this year because of the error.
