LOL, LS, I know what "campanology" is, having read Dorothy L. Sayers' The Nine Tailors. Does he use the Grandsire method? And, everyone is right. The fact that Sigmar has a cold inclines me to think that this is acute serous otitis, that is, a buildup of watery fuluid in the middle ear, which can cause tinnitus. As Charean says, some pseudoephedrine like Sudafed will get rid of that. Sigmar's doctor apparently agrees with me.

Aye, I used to suffer from that all the time. My doctor (this was back in the early 70's) would put me on Celestone and Polaramine, but then it was discovered that I was allergic to even *that*. I had to have tubes in my ears multiple times...wasn't fun!

I think my problem's differant to yours, apparently my cold together with the physical activities I had been performing had caused a build up of...I don't remember what it was called, it wasn't wax, to build up in my ear.

Thanks for your advice, it's proving to be useful, especially when I'm trying to sleep and the noise increases in volume, I just remember to not panic.

Sorry to hear about your situation, won't it ever get better?
The medical word is no it won't. But miracles can happen.

Yeah, the night time thing can be bad. I'm glad it helped. Take things like camomile tea and natural depressants to help around that time.

The main weapons against tinnitus deal with stress and the like, because it gets worse if you focus on it. Sonic distraction, acceptance of imperfection, and calmness are all keys.

Let us know how you fare Sigmar. You're not alone.

Thank God that we have much better agents than that, now, Saz. I usually put my patients on Claritin D and instruct them in nasal lavage and the "Diver Manuver." I really have not had that much success with corticosteroids like Celestone, though it seems that they should work. Yorick, chronic tinnitus is inded a pain. Sometimes it spontaneously resolves, hope that this happens to you. I shall include it in my prayers.
