What someone focusses on dictates the direction of their life. If someone's focussing on hatred, destruction and maiming of a fictional character, let alone a real person, what does that say?

Hatred affects the one who hates, not necessarily the recipient of that hate (unless it's manifested into physical action)

The reason why I bring up George Lucas, is that the created character is an extension of the creator. In hating Jar Jar, you are hating an aspect of George Lucas mind.

The paradox is, that by actually moving the character out of the realm it resides in - ie the film - the haters and website creators are actually also praising George Lucas ability in creating a believable character.

Wierd.

I found the character irritating. I was annoyed with George Lucas for including it. All that effects is my decision to see the film again. Oh and my expectations for the second film, which were pleasantly surpassed.

well, to be perfectly honest, Yorick, if you're going to take everyone literally that reflects on you, not them. There is no way I would believe anybody HATES a fictional character. Everyone just found him annoying

My original statement was that Ahmed had a point.

Call the reaction what you will, the end result is the hate site links at the top of this page.

Sad.

yorick, i think youre overreacting

its not that we really HATE jar-jar, we just think he was annoying throughout all of episode i

we are saying that JAR-JAR was the bad part of the movie, not anything else that george lucas created

if you read the article again, it sounds like he's blaming the movie viewers for not liking jar-jar and saying he did a good job of acting

Am I? Overreacting against images of blood splattered multated heads, nails through the skull and other depictions of violence?

That people view this as a joke and fail to see the horrifying reflection on a violence obsessed culture that glorifys and entertains these notions ESPECIALLY IN JEST - disturbs me.

The fact that it is a fictional character perpetuates societies desensitisation to violence and death.
