Also the Catholic church no longer recognizes the rythem method as a viable form of birth control. In 1984 I believe the pope made it law that any form of birth control is a sin. I think there are very few catholics that adhere to the rigid beliefs of the
Pope.

Ok, you all know the drill and this is getting far too much into what/who is or isn't Catholic and who is or isn't alllowed to 'this that or the other for the church' which is a RELIGIOUS debate and taboo. Next post like the last several will get it shut down.

Get back to politics or move on to another topic, please.

Hello, I am MagiK, I am a Catholic, and I have better than 14 years of Catholic Education behind me. I want to see the scientific poll that has been done that says the majority or even "a lot" of practicing Catholics approve of abortion....please.

Are you saying you would rather give approval of the leadership and the authority over the law in the U.S. to some European country ( namely, The Vatican) and an international entity ( the institution of the Catholic Church)? It sure sounds like it.

I want to see people be honest about who they are. Kerry is no more Catholic than I am Irish. I believe politicians should run for office based on their beliefs and I will vote for a Christian or Catholic who stands by their beliefs before I will vote for someone who says they are one thing and yet proves with 20 years in the senate, that he is another. As for your non-relevent comments about the church ruling the nation. I believe that you wandered into the forbidden religious discussion topic to which I am not permitted to reply.

Edit: Last time I checked, the Vatican is a building or a collection of buildings, the Vatican City is a city, I do not believe it has been granted the status of Nation. I know you ment this as humor but it was humor with a knifes edge.

I can never tell when you're joking, MagiK

The Vatican is as much a nation as Liechtenstein...

If you advocate the right of those in or outside your religion to make a choice that may be abhorent to your religion, do you denigrate the tenets of your faith or just affirm the right of individuals to chose of their own accord to commit a mortal sin? This is a simple question. In advocating a stance, does the faith also at the same time advocate barring the free will of others?

The question here is not whether the Catholic faith supports/denigrates abortion, bus whether or not it intends to preclude the free will of its followers. Are Catholics allowed to ignore the tenets of their faith, and risk going to hell, or does the faith intend to coerce the faithful ito behaving in an approved way, and ignore their free will?

Senator Kerry has his free will to choose, but his free agency has gone beyond what they consider allowable for a person who would be the leader of others. His power would undermine their own, since many people would then say that since he is a catholic and the leader of the country, then it must be alright to follow his ideals, and exemplify him in their own lives.

By the way, TL, your last post would be an example of what might get this thread locked, and mine is proof that discussion can be had on the topic to allow it to stay open. Please adhere to what Cloudbringer has asked, everyone. I will also try to do so, or I will stop posting if I find it too difficult.

Sorry to egg your kurd there dude...but if you were to bother to read my original post, I didn't make any statement of fact about the Vatican constituting a nation. so chill down and wipe the lather off.

The drool is unbecoming of you.
