Skunk, I gotta hand it to you -- you are just wonderful and turning things on their head. You should definately write policy for the liberal left in America. I've never seen someone so capable of presenting spin, innuendo, stereotype, and straw men as facts. You're a real trip.
I still say I'm happy to live with a government that identified the problems internally, studied the alleged problem with scrutiny, and took steps to correct them. The government is preforming aptly as its own policeman. If they didn't want to tell me about the facts until the investigation was done -- I'm fine with that. Oh, and nine months is not a long time when investigating such allegations. It's lightning speed when compared to, say, Enron, Tyco, or Martha Stewart. But, don't let me interrupt, continue to enjoy your spinning. |

"He should have shot, shoveled and shut up" - Ralph Klein on single case of mad cow that closed the border. Typical political solution for all problems before it hits the media. I assume it can be applied to Iraqis by political figures as well as cows. [ 05-12-2004, 06:10 PM: Message edited by: pritchke ] |

I don't know why I bother even reading this as it gets me so upset to read things like "big deal" "US Propaganda" etc etc
Let's see, hmmm, civilian beheaded vs. naked prisoners, yeah that seems about even.

Most of the major national news programs have been reporting (almost from Day One) how much the Iraqi's hate us for being over there..yet I hear other sources from within the military on the radio who say the complete opposite is true. Most Iraqi's are very happy to be freed from Saddam Hussein and are appreciative of the relief efforts the military is undertaking to help them. These reports come from the soldiers themselves (who you rarely see interviewed on the National News channels) or from sources that have talked to the soldiers. And these are the Grunts that are facing sniper fire and terrorist threats everyday, not the generals that are safely secured in a Command Center. As for Propoganda USA, ABC (the American Broadcasting Channel) was the FIRST network to issue an internal memo stating that their news personnel should STOP wearing American Flag pins on thier outfits shortly after 9/11, because it might offend some of the Muslim audience. EXCUSE ME??? ![]() THAT is the kind of "Propoganda TV" we have here in America. And it is the main reason channels like Fox have gone so far over-the-top in the other direction! Granted, Faux News is most definitely "Propoganda TV", but they are the ONLY channel that actually fits that description. Most of the MAJOR networks focus on (and perhaps even exaggerate) the "bad news" from Iraq and most assuredly NEVER show any "good news".

No, it may not be helpful. But, I understand where he's coming from -- I said just the same thing yesterday.
I liked this quote from the West Wing about terrorists: We kill them. We find them, and we kill them. Then we kill the people who supported them, and then we kill everyone who was happy that they did it. I like that thought. It makes me a little warmer in this cold cruel world, y'know. Every time a newspaper reporter found a crowd of "Bimbala bimbala"-yelling, chanting terrorist supporters, we should send in some troops/snipers/gunships who shoot everyone cheering and burning an American flag. Keep shooting until people clue in and shut up or they're all dead. Don't worry, we'll talk about giving them back their right to speak AFTER we've gotten all the terrorist supporters. Maybe not the most artful solution, but it has a certain simple beauty to it. |
