Is this the same Clarke that originaly worked for and was appointed by the previous Adminstration? The same Clarke that over a year ago stated in a meeting with Clinton's Sec.of Def., Attorney General, CIA director, and Sec. of State, and himself, Claimed he was the only one at the meeting to avocate going after UBL? The same Clarke that has in the past confirmed that the Sudan was trying to hand UBL over to the USA on a silver plater? All PRE 9-11.
Now here's a good one for the black heliocopter/conspiracy crowd That was so willing to come out agianst Haliburton/Bush. Who owns CBS? Who owns the publisher of Clarke's book? Who stands to make MONEY off both of them? But I know making money off of things is only a motovation of the conservatives. While everybody is out looking for the black heliocopters don't forget to wear your home made foil hats to block the gov't mind-control microwaves. Sorry foil hats doesn't work on onesided reporting. ![]() ![]() Hey Sir T, what's the news up in Volunteerland, all I get is the Bama side of the NCAA/UT story. ![]() TL what happened to UK Wildcats? I see they had a little trouble with some boys from Alabama. ![]()

JDH,
Clark also served under Reagan and Bush I as well. So he actually served more time under Repug administrations then Demo.

Spotting Richard A. Clarke, his counterterrorism coordinator, Bush pulled him and a small group of aides into the dark-paneled room.
''Go back over everything, everything,'' Bush said, according to Clarke's account. ``See if Saddam did this.'' ''But Mr. President, al Qaeda did this,'' Clarke replied. ``I know, I know, but . . . see if Saddam was involved. Just look. I want to know any shred.'' Reminded that the CIA, FBI and White House staffs had sought and found no such link before, Clarke said, Bush spoke ''testily.'' As he left the room, Bush said a third time, ``Look into Iraq, Saddam.'' ASKED and ANSWERED over 6 months ago. anybody NOTICE THE WORDS IF or the words "I want to know any shred". Those are the words of a leader trying to find out what the "HALE" is going on and where the evidence leads. Now I just a simple southern country boy but those words are not the same as "GET me evidence even if you have to make it up". Horse and pony show, horse and pony show. ![]()

Now, John D. I like you a lot, so don't you go draggin' UK basketball out in this forum. I mean, combine my political seriousness with a UK basketball loss pre-Elite 8, and them's fightin' words. Toss in the fact that it SCREWED my aims at big-money bracketology, and I'm well, looking like this ----->

Stratos, If you remember, the War on Terrorism is not exclusive to Al Qaida, but terrorist organizations everywhere. Therefore the Palestinians, while not the purpatrators (sp) of 9/11, are in the crosshairs of the United States. Another thing is Osama and Al Qaida supplied funds and training to certain Palestinian Terror Organizations, as they did to those in Malaysia and the Phillipines. For the most part we helped both of those Governments dismantle both of those organizations. We even sent troops to the Phillipines. Saddam may have not been linked to Al Qaida, but you could most definitely link him to the Palestinians.
John D., that stuff ain't gettin' the press up here that it is in Alabama. The report about in the local paper on occassion, but I figure ole Gallion is keepin' it stirred up pretty thick down there. Needless to say Alabama ain't gettin' a whole lot of sympathy here. Besides, from what I have read and heard, Fulmer wasn't the only coach to inform on the Alabama program. I hear Arkansas, Georgia, Florida and possible Auburn complained to the NCAA. I hated to see it happen, just because Alabama has such a great tradition, but you can't go buying players. You know Alabama wasn't the only school that got caught up in that. Mummy at Kentucky got caught with his hand in the cookie jar too and it cost him his job too. http://www.computerworld.com/governm...,77927,00.html
“Dick's greatest talent was identifying the next security issue before it was an issue and before anyone else,” said Roger Cressey, Clarke’s former chief of staff at the President’s CIP Board. “He was able to use his tremendous bureaucratic skill to get senior-level attention to the issues. And there are not many people in government who have that talent. So his departure will be a real loss.” Vince Cannistraro, former chief of operations at the CIA's Counterterrorism Center, said people at the agency "resented" Clarke "because he was a hands-on bureaucratic guerrilla who rode roughshod over the bureaucracies." Cannistraro acknowledged, however, that such an approach is sometimes useful. Cannistraro knew Clarke during his tenure as deputy chief of intelligence and research at the National Security Council, where Clarke "often came up with questionable proposals for covert action," Cannistraro said. "He was contemptuous of the bureaucracy, and this attitude earned him few friends." Prior to taking his post as cybersecurity adviser (see story), Clarke was responsible for recommending and planning the bombing of the Al Shifa plant in Sudan, which Cannistraro said was probably conducted on the basis of faulty intelligence. The CIA also resented Clarke for airing his views to the press about the intelligence failures that contributed to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, said Cannistraro. "Of course the intelligence community screwed up. But Clarke also screwed up. He was, after [all], the counterterrorism czar when 9/11 took place," he said. (Bold font added by me) another perspective on Mr Clarke, this is mostly opinion but there are facts for those willing to seperate the two. http://www.attrition.org/security/rant/z/clarke.html "Clarke managed largely to avoid Washington's finger-pointing over failures to anticipate the Sept. 11 attacks, even though he was the top counterterrorism adviser and he was replaced by the White House in that role less than one month later." http://www.informationweek.com/story...30205_security "Clarke was the government's first counterterrorism czar -- formally from 1998 to 2002, but in practice beginning in 1995. Security officials, friends and foes alike, said no one rivaled him as a spur to action. He was the first to draw effective attention to the risk that terrorists would acquire nuclear, biological and chemical weapons, the first to force concrete steps to protect critical information networks from cyberattack, and a dominant voice for spending money and covert resources against terrorists at a time when government was inclined to perceive them as a minor threat." http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp...7694-2003Mar12 "In the role of counter-terrorism czar, he will be replaced by retired four-star Gen. Wayne A. Downing. Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge will serve above Clarke and Downing in the new role as the president's Homeland Security adviser. Clarke became well-known for his use of the phrase "electronic Pearl Harbor," when predicting the implications of a cyber-terrorist attack. Critics say he overstates the threat, perhaps as a tactic to win greater attention, support and resources for government computer defense capabilities." http://abcnews.go.com/sections/polit...rs_clarke.html *****Note date on website *****Oct 10, 2001****** Note "electronic Pearl Harbor" in seeming conformation of attrition.org link. Wonder why 60 minutes didn't ask him how come when he was the anti-terrorism czar under President Clinton he didn't fight harder to get President Clinton to take Sudan's offer to give the USA UBL. Or why if he met 2-3 times a week on security in his role as anti-terrorism czar he didn't know about 9-11 before, after all he's the man that would be telling President Bush, and everybody knows President Bush knew about it before hand. Clarke is a career Bureaucrat looking to feather his nest selling books. I'm a simple country boy and I found this in about 45 minutes, without any big budget research like 60 minutes, oh well follow the money follow the money follow the money follow the money follow the money follow the money. Just a little fun and games to remind everybody ALL IS NOT WHAT IT SEEMS
The President of the United States, Commander in Chief, the desk where the buck is supposed to stop. I must congratulate you on the very nice attempt to change the subject from Bush's alleged failures to Clark's. Fortunately, I brought my special goggles that allow me to see through smoke and mirrors. ![]() ![]() P.S. By allegding Clark was a failure, you only highlight Bush even more as a failure for bringing on-board and keeping him.
