I'm going to use your quote a little Chewie. I hope that's OK.

I support the notion that this man(?) should get a trial and thereafter his sentence. It may be death or it may be a lifetime in prison. It's not for me to decide.

But reading several comments in this thread, and I don't think all of them is serious, I wonder do you really support that men like this should be executed without a trial? Should this be implemented in all cases? Take Milosevic as an example. He committed several "crimes". Should he have been executed at once?

In between the trial and the sentence there should also be a verdict maybe?

Naah! Why would we need that? Come on Donut, you and I both know what the verdict would be. But OK let's throw in a verdict just for the fun of it. And sorry about hijacking your thread some.

I hadn't even noticed the hijacking Willow!

Yes - he's guilty, I know that, so why bother with a show trial, that smacks a bit of the old style communists!

Actually it could be related to the Nurnberg process. And chemical-Ali has created crimes against human kind so there should definitely be a trial before there is any verdict. But in this trial the defendant won't be innocent until proven otherwise. But I still belive there should be a trial. Otherwise we're back to 'the winner takes it all'.
