The movie can't replace the books for sure and there were many errors but IMHO it was a very good effort.
I have no idea why you are so negative Wedin.

We had that BG2 movie discussion a couple times before and thought of which actor to cast the characters in the game. The best ones were IMHO:

Sean Connery - Keldorn
Wesley Snipes - Valygar
Robert de Niro - Korgan
Julianne Moore - Jaheira
Ralf Möller - Minsc
Kevin Spacey - Irenicus

I thought you guys had heard. There were negotiations a few months back to make a big budget feature based on the BG saga. I don't know who all was involved, or how it has progressed, but they are definitely trying to get something going. Hollywood wants to buy up any property and make a film out of it that it can.

Considering how bad the last Dungeons and Dragons movie sucked terribly, would we really want to see them make a BG movie?

debiler, i think joe pesci would make a better korgan. DeNiro's too tall... and not mean enough

i saw a similar thing in an InQuest once about a (fake) Weatherlight Saga movie. Arnold Schwarzenegger as Volrath, Jim Carrey as Squee, Brad Pitt as Gerrard, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Hannah, etc. it was quite funny.

i guess a) it's a MTG thing and b) you had to be there. oh well.

hey you ppl are great! i loved that cast you suggested! perfect..
hmm.. now who would play drizzt.. (he would have to be pretty good, seeing as how i could take him with me arms tied behind me back...)
but no one could ever get so many big names together for a fantasy movie..
by the way.. i thought the LOTR movie was damn good considering how difficult it is to even make fantasy movies look respectable. and, uh ahem.. i do admire liv tyler and all... but i still resented that bit where she carries frodo away and chants to bring down the flood at bruinen and what not!
one more thing.. does anyone here think they could've find someone better for aragorn's part or is it just me? i mean.. anyone who's seen carlito's way would shudder to associate viggo mortensen with aragorn.

HAHA! anoymen would have made a better name for him (if annoymen sounds too bad. apparently he doesnt annoy women considering how they find him romantic & what now..)

IMHO, a good actor to play an NPC bard character would be that guy from the film Con Air, who played the character Garline Green....ohhh what his name...

the reason Arwen replaces Glorfindel in the Fellowship is because there are no female characters in the whole book, with a few minor exceptions, and the makers didn't want to draw fire from women's rights groups. So, Glorfindel, while a cool character, was clearly expendable, and was replaced by much better-looking Liv Tyler.

By the way I liked the fact that Arwen carried frodo to the Ford but the fact she calls the flood...Shouldn't have happened!
