Paladin, my first time through i had a single-sabre scoundrel/sentinel with a whooping one attack/round, +29 attack bonus, i didn't have the two yavin super crystals and i still managed to kill malak relatively easy (this was on highest difficulty). sure, it took a while, but that's just because i had no offensive force powers, meaning i couldn't kill those captured jedi and so i had to fight malak, what, eight times... .
so basicly you don't really need an all that high attack rating to get through the game. most of the time you'll get by just fine even with +25 and for the tougher fights you can alway use stims to add +6 attack and +6 damage.

Yeah, like I said in my previous post, a "to hit" of +27 or better is good enough for most foes, but Malak is a pretty tough combatant.

Of course you can use stat enhancing stims to "buff" up you attack/defence rating... not to mention combat enhancing force powers as well.

But being a lazy person, I tend not to use all these stuff and charge straight into combat. On some occasions, I do cast "Master Speed" first but sometimes I am too lazy to do that too.

Anyway, How you want to play the game is up to you. There is no right or wrong here. What I feel is that a +30 to hit is just "nice" to hit Malak more than him hitting you. Maybe it is my ego or I am trying to be a finesse, but I hate it when I have to use plenty of advance med pack and life support packs just to survive the fianl battle with Malak.

That is why I keep trying with different skills, stat and gear/armor combinations so that my player character is both "balance" in terms of skills, feats and combat prowess.

Anyway, I found that dueling (1H expert) character are actually easier to play because of the great attack and defence rating of the master dueling feat, coupled together with either Guadian or Sentinel Jedi class, you are almost unstoppable... and yet, I still have enough points to spend on other attributes so that my player character is quite proficient in repairing (to improve HK-47's stats), computer and persuasion.

I've heard of this. Throw lightsaber -- it's not just the cool-looking ranged attack that allows you to leave your weapons at home, it's also handy in a pinch at the end.

Ah yes, throw lightsabre. Very useful power to have since there is no save whatsoever--100% guranteed to hit or you can return your lightsabre to the enclave where you bought them.

I mostly use this power later in the game, star forge area. While Juhani and Jolee are busy fighting Dark Jedis and Sith Troopers, a little helping hand is in order.

But it is a little risky to use against Malak because he is a Jedi Guardian and only one force jump away from you.

i never used lightsaber throw.. because i thought that was useless (experience with jedi acadamy) any jedi can deflect any lightsaber throw in that game

Yeah, that was my experience in Jedi Knight 2 too. But in KoTOR, lightsabre throw has a 100% chance to hit and advance lightsabre throw can even "chain" up to the other enemies which are in close proximity to each other.

If you are good in persuasion, I would recommend to trade "Dominate mind" for this power.

Back on the one-handed -v- two handed lightsaber debate, I am finding that in the catacombs of the Unknown Planet, having a droid killer in one hand and a Dark Side buffed saber in the other coupled with Knight Speed and Master Flurry makes me a highly effective Jedi Guardian Magimix

I suppose I could have gone down the one handed route, but life's too short to be pausing the game in mid slaughter to change weapons as you switch opponents

I supposed you are right, Mouse. But even when I played as dual wielding Jedi, I always use "destroy droid" to decimate the Star Forge droids. I would rather equip the off-hand with high damage short lightsabres against the horde of Dark Jedis.

Anyway, one handed Jedis are almost as good as dual wielding Jedis, provided that you choose the appropriate force powers to complement on your "short-coming".

Dual wielding Jedis should spend a little bit more points on either Strength or Dexterity to accounter for the lower attack/defence bonus while one handed Jedi should invest on Flurry and Force Speed to gain the extra attack/round bonus... not to mention the dueling feat, which is too good to miss out.

But of course... I still like the look of a Jedi wielding two lightsabers. Just too cool.

I seem to have sound problems now...(after the display problem was changed!). My sound slows and stutters if I am in a dungeon of some sort, and this happened only after I degraded my display drivers to 52.16 for KOTOR, which fixed the visibility problem I had...can I fix the sound one too? Any help greatly appreciated, as this reduces the enjoyment I get out of this game.

And that's it finished

My two handed strategy certainly worked in the final droid heavy/Malak stages. In fact Malak was dispatched without the need for any sort of ranged attacks in the final battle. Just a few buffs from time to time, a few healing moments and Master Speed+Master Flurry removed that nasty old half head.
