I remember the AD&D for Intellivision, but never had one. Lots of C-64s showing up here, not surprisingly. Wasteland is one of the 10 best classic games; how could anyone not have it?

I recall playing a text-based game call Mount Doom or something like that. This was on a TRS-80 back when I was 7-8 years old.

Ultima. No number, just Ultima, on a friend's Apple. 1981. Been playing them ever since.

The game that started it all. My first RPG. I was hesitant at first, since I did not know whether RPGs would be appealing to me. Now RPGs rank very high on my favourite game genres.

Chewbacca, I had some text-based games on a TRS-80 as well. There was one (the name of which I can't remember) that I couldn't get to work and another one that was set in the Old West (I never could get past the rattlesnake, though).
The first text-based games I ever played must have been back in 1982 or 1983.

Great thread!
This really takes me back (you can guess ages of people by their first RPG!)
Mine were Apshai, Zork and Ultima 2 on a friend's IBM XT and Wizardry (the original) on my own Apple IIc.
Like most of the rest of you, I got hooked!

Probably Zelda on the NES, but that one is more of an adventure then it was an RPG. Must have been Lands of Lore1 then, I was completly addicted to that game.
