To Walk a Dragon's Path, Chapter 2-Wills of a Demi-Goddess

[Calaethis Dragonsbane]

Knocking on the door to the bathroom, Calaethis stepped inside, and Sylquis submerged, in a disgusted tone of voice Calaethis said "Don't do that, if you start choking, I'll have to come in and get you." Sylquis rose, blushing, "Oh, its you..." irratably he replied "Who else would it be child" She blushed again, and muttered something that sounded like an appology. "Little one, I don't care whether your naked or not - if I wanted to see you naked, I'd command you to undress in front of me. Now stop being silly. Your still a child." the girl blushed even more. Calaethis took a towel from a nearby peg and continued, "I think you've spent enough time in there. Step out of the bath." Sylquis was shocked by the firmness in his voice, and his tone was that of an adult dealing with a child. She could see by his expression that he was in no mood for games, and did as she was bade. Stepping out of the bath, she stood shivering for half a moment before Calaethis wrapped the towel around her. "Do you want me to towel you down, Sylquis? Or would you rather do it yourself?" His tone was softer now, but still firm. She shook her head, and replied she would dry herself. Calaethis left the room, irrated by the childs behaviour. After a few moments, she emerged dry, and Calaethis made a motioning guesture for her to change. He'd already laid out some clothes for her on her bed. "Are we going somewhere, Calaethis?" she asked, "Yes child, to talk to Lady Verloren about tutoring you." came his reply. He heard a startled squeal of delight, and Sylquis embraced him. Looking her in the eye, Calaethis said "Sylquis, you need to get changed. When your ready, meet me in my room, all right? Wear the clothes I've put out for you."

A few moments later, she was ready, her hair almost dry, but brushed neatly. Calaethis looked at her critically for a moment. "Good enough" he said cryptically. "Lets go, and mind your manners child" she was about to give an indignant reply, but one look at him silenced her protest. She wore a simple but elegent midnight-blue dress, and it complemented her eyes, and suited her golden-yellow hair, and pale ivory skin.

They reached Verloren's rooms, and Calaethis knocked on the door. He was still dressed in his earlier clothes, and had Tagnik at his side, looking every inch the elven noble. The girl looked like a adept sorceress...

As Aeris finished up his bathing he got out and quickly changed into his old tunic. He decided he would wear his old tunic seeing as the other had gotten him so many stares. His chainmail armor was being worn since he knew not to trust anyone in Amn. Both his blade hung by his sides. The spell Alliene had cast upon him to make his skin change had wore off long ago. As he wandered the marble halls he met up with some of the servants from the estate. He greeted them and went on his way.

Verloren's door swung open with Avalon's tall muscualr frame filling the doorway, dressed in merely a pair of breeches His eyes traveled from Calaethis to Slqyuis questioningly,
"I'm afraid now is not a good time, elves," Avalon more or less growled, "If you're looking for Verloren, shes walking the hallways of the second level," he stepped back and closed the door with a sharp snap.

Calaethis's eyes flashed, and he knocked sharply on the door again, in a voice that could be heard though the door, he replied "My thanks, Lord Avalon. We shall not disturb you further." Sylquis clung to him arm saying "No Calaethis! Don't irrate him, please!" Calaethis shot back, "Good time or not, he could at least been courteous. Now, let us find Lady Verloren." Calaethis bade that the girl go first, in case an angry Avalon emerged. Calaethis felt insulted. He'd always been polite to the dragon, and yet.. perhaps it wasn't a good time, and he regreted goading Avalon. "Come Sylquis, we should leave the silver in peace." they started down towards the second level, intending to look for Lady Verloren.

ooc-nice of you to join us Kyra...and yes, you have a private room on the 4th floor of Verloren's esates. Whether or not Dar has a seperate room is up to you

Verloren stood in the middle of a long stretch of hallway, staring up at a grand portrait of her and her mother. Perhaps sometime in the future she would travel to Suldenessar and see how the elf had revored from her human father's...mistreatment. Her sharp ears caught echoing footstpes descending the stairs from the third floor, and she turned away from the painting to see Calaethis leading a finely dressed Slyquis with him. A smile formed on Verloren's lips as they drew near, but it vanished when she saw the sour look on Calaethis's face,
"Good evening, cousin of my sister...I take it from the look on your face you tried to reach me in my rooms...I really must apologize for Avalon's behavior...I don't think he's feeling well in body or spirit," she tapped her finger's on her stomach thoughtfuly, "Anyway, I will deal with his manners later. What brings you here, dressed so nicely?" she sent a tired smile at Slyquis. Verloren was tired, but she knew Avalon needed time to think and sort his worries out.

"Something I feel would be better discussed in private, Lady Verloren," he said respectfully, then he smiled, "Lord Avalon isn't the only one who forgets his manners, sister of my cousin" Calaethis grinned and bowed, "How does this eve find thee my lady?" unconsiously lasping into formal speech. "I am well, have you eaten tonight? You seem a little wan?" he asked warmly, genuinly concerned. Sylquis curtsied, her eyes lowered replied, "Good evening Lady Verloren." she blushed slightly, "I'm well," her eyes flickered at Calaethis, half thankful he'd insisted that she bathed. "May I ask.. why Lord Avalon was so... distracted, hes... not usually like that?"she asked, she genuinly liked the Silver. Calaethis sighed and shook his head at her tactlessness, and waited for Verloren to answer.

Verloren sighed as she led Calaethis and Slyquis into a medium sized confrence room(mainly what the 2nd floor rooms consist of),
"He is never like this, little one. I gather he is beginning to worry about me now. The child also. Afraid for both our health's I suppose. He will likely be like this until the baby is actually born and he assured that we are both ok...just be...quiet around him, he is increasingly sensitive, which is why I sought solitude in my halls," she settled herself down into a comfortable arm chair, "As for myself..." the reason why she was tired was no thing to say to children, "Avalon's stress is wearing on me, nothing more," she shrugged uncomfortably, "Anyway, what do you wish to speak to me about, now that we are in private?"
