"… we'll find someone else's bone to pick with." ~ His lips twitched somewhat, and he suddenly realised how tired he himself was ~ "As far as this battle is going…" ~ In the distance, he heard hoarse shouts of tired victory ~ "… I think we've won." ~ Absently reaching to hold Ursula's arm ~ "… but as far as the long-term war is concerned…" ~ He sighed and paused for a moment before continuing ~ "… we need a better plan."

"What is it that you really want, Cyrus?" ~ Ursula's husky voice drifted from below, distracting both men ~ "You mentioned of injustice, oppression and evil." ~ Refusing further aid, she props herself up on both hands ~ "That is what brought Aragorn to your cause." ~ Her eyes narrowed briefly ~ "If it's glory that you want… or worse still, loot…" ~ She closed her eyes tightly, her body rigid with tension ~ "… then I would say Aragorn has been the fool."

~Cyrus looked at Ursula with a puzzled, almost wounded expression. Does she question my loyalty? Or my credibility? A rogue I may be, but I am no coward! He rolled his jaw once, calmly supressing what fervent emotions had arisen. Now he looked Ursula straight in the eye, his own cobalt orbs turning distant. His tongue was apathetic.~ "I would say, my lady..." ~He tried his very hardest to keep words civil. There was no use in causing scuffles because of childish name-calling.~ "That your views of my intent are incorrect. I was born beneath the waves of this very river, lest you forget." ~He tactfully scratched at the sparse silver-blue scales on his neck.~ "I fight to preserve my home. When all is said, there is no glory in this. Only lament, and friends left unburied. And-" ~He paused, raising one of his blue-black eyebrows.~ "Were I interested in loot, I would have sold that potion I gave to you." ~The corners of his lips turned slightly downward.~ "My intent is fair, and my only wish is to live long and hopefully prosper with good friends as Aragorn." ~His eyes narrowed cooly.~ "So now it is my turn to ask, Lady Ursula... Why do you frown upon me so?"

She returned his gaze levelly, her eyes shining with pride ~ "I judge by actions alone, Cyrus." ~ Deliberately ignoring Aragorn's urgent nudge ~ "You asked for help and we gave it freely…" ~ Her eyebrows arched momentarily ~ "… yet you arrive here by yourself, with no further support." ~ She shook her head a little, sending wisps of her auburn hair undone from the bun ~ "Were you so presumptuous as to think your lone effort would tilt the battle in our favour?" ~ Her cheeks reddening ~ "Or perhaps, it was a case of over-confidence; you thought we would have settled the war by ourselves." ~ Sighing now ~ "I do not know what to think of your actions, Cyrus; that is why I question you."

Aragorn watched both his friends anxiously, yet he held his tongue. Saying anything further would worsen the situation. He threw an irritable glance at Ursula, feeling uneasy as he caught her returning hurt look. Then hazarded a glance at the half-elf.

~Cyrus' throat ached from holding back roars of frustration. His eyes quickly averted to Aragorn, the look saying 'Watch her drinks for poison.' He was unable to mask the growling hint to his voice as he shot venomous eyes at the woman.~ "I am not here alone, Ursula." ~The muscles in his shoulders shuddered as he said her name, the scythe on his cheek flaring.~ "You ignore the blood that stains the water. We sea-elves wage the battle for our domicile here, in hopes to wash our shores of the evil that plagues this place." ~He inhaled deeply, keeping his voice controlled and stinging cold.~ "The actions of my people are far more noble than you and your sanctimonious ideals, Ursula." ~He tilted his head to the side.~ "For the things we fight upon this field do not swim." ~He hissed quietly.~ "This battle is for humans, not for aquatics. I came to you so you might help us help your own kind. And if you have no consideration for your own people... For any decent people on this field today! If you hold no compassion, if you must wonder why you are here... Then perhaps I should not be the one in question."

This time, he reacted in time, gripping Ursula's arm tightly till he felt her shudder ~ "Enough already, Ursula. Much good has all this talk done." ~ Coughing awkwardly, he faced his friend, the hue on his cheeks rather unpleasant ~ "I know this is hard for you to swallow, Cyrus..." ~ And that's an understatement! ~ "... Ursula is just peevish from all the fighting and bloodshed..." ~ Silencing her protest with an icy gaze ~ "Come, the battle is over for now. Let us tend to the wounded."

The waves of the half-elf's unquenched hatred almost choked his last phrase.

Lorath smiled and put his arm around Anaquei's waist. "Don't worry, we shouldn't be more than two hours." He winked at Aoln, then walked out the door and toward the woods north of town.
"It's been a long time, hasn't it?" he asked when they arrived at the edge of the woods. "What all's been happening with the town? Any new developments, has anyone actually done anything besides me?" He let out a quiet humming sound and looked up at the treetops while awaiting her answer.

~The muscles in Cyrus' shoulders spasmed, a tell-tale sign that he was stressed. Walking away from you and Ursula without a word, you heard him growl beneath his breath.~ "Oh yes, I'll tend the wounded. I pray they'll be more grateful than that harpie!" ~His fists clenched tight, he began surveying the crimson stained ground for survivors. Hearing a moan, his head snapped to the side. Beneath a layer of mud and blood, he recognized a familiar face. The half-elf cried out wildly.~ "ARAGORN!" ~With a frantic expression, he stooped beside the fallen person, digging her out of the surrounding grime and carnage.~ "Fantine! Hang on little one, I'll get you out! ARAGORN!"

Anaquei Stormwhisper
"Ravenwood's been pretty sleepy..." ~Smiling, she rested her head on your shoulder.~ "The baelnorn just summoned up a band of green warders... Merrick and Lowell set up some odd traps around the graveyard... And Li's been dishing out new rangers by the dozen. It seems at the rate we're protecting ourselves, nothing will ever happen here." ~She sighed, obviously a bit disturbed by the lack of action, but managed to grin up at you.~ "Though Illuna's managed to stir up some trouble! She-" ~Anaquei's words were interrupted as an unnatural cry echoed through the pristine forest. Anaquei yelped and jumped timidly behind you, clinging to your arm. Out of the brush leaped Illuna Ravenwood, a look of dissapointment on her face.~ "Oh drat. Sorry Lorath, I was hoping to-..." ~Then she noticed Anaquei and grinned.~ "I say Lorath, you've got a bug on your arm!" ~A wily smile on her face, Illuna pounced at Anaquei, pulling her off you in something between a hug and a head-lock.~ "Ana! What did I tell you about wandering around with strange men?!" ~The two druids were like sisters, so Anaquei just grinned.~ "Oh I'm sorry Luney! It seemed like a good idea at the time!" ~Illuna glared at you from the corner of her eye, then grinned, whispering loud enough for you to hear in Anaquei's ear.~ "Well he is kind of cute..." ~Anaquei blushed, nodding her head in agreement.~

"Fare thee well, my husband to be. Don't do anything stupid and get yourself killed or captured by something!"

"My dear, hell's gate's could not keep me from your side! I shall always return. I will be back in time for Spring planting, and I hope to find some new varieties of seed on my adventure. It's always profitable to have the only vegetable of it's kind in the region."

"You spend too much time thinking up get rich quick schemes...and most of them involve stealing a dragon's hoard. Do you even think that you will ever even see a dragon?"

"I know they exist, somewhere...and one day, I shall find one and get it's treasure...but until then, I will have to settle on more meager ways of doing so."

"Well, off with thee, then. I will never be able to talk sense into you. Gods above know that I hope our children would never be cursed with your bumbling attitude and lifestyle."

But Marian!...that is what you like best about me! Surely I would want my son to inherit such a fine attribute! We shall talk on it again in the Spring. I love you!"

"I love you, too...Daniel Silverfall."

~They kiss softly, then Daniel turns and begins his long journey to the Northern Countries.~

At the horrified cry, he raced towards Cyrus, his frustration at Ursula quite forgotten ~ "Sh... she's alive, isn't she?!" ~ Finally daring to breathe as he saw the faint rising of her bosom ~ "I didn't wish to bring this up just now... not under..." ~ Breaking off abruptly, his eyes completely on his frail cousin.

"We need healing urgently." ~ A touch of despair in his voice ~ "My camp's out of supplies..."

~Cyrus looked helplessly at the woman, collecting her shuddering form up in his arms, not daring to look at his distraught friend. He blinked.~ "There's no time to run Aragorn. She'll die before we get back." ~Cyrus took a deep breath.~ "I'll heal her. I'll take her wounds as my own." ~The scythe on his cheek glowed. He shook his head to any protest his friend made.~ "There's no other way."

~Cyrus then lay Fantine down gently on the ground, taking another deep breath. He chanted in elvish until the red scythe glowed vibrantly.~ "Gurth tumbalemorna, nay! Gurth gwaith n' tumbalemorna, nay! Ny Celebring anna Sehanine, anna gwaith, anna atar!Melyanna hoth sereg Ny wen!" ~Closing his eyes to avoid the bright light on his face, he lay his cheek to Fantine's motionless face. You watched in awe as Fantine's wounds dissapeared, and Cyrus' flesh rotted and bruised to your cousin's previous likeness. At last Fantine was fully healed, sitting up and looking around dazedly. Cyrus coughed and clutched his side, staggering to his feet and backward. He grinned at you re-assuringly and said hoarsely.~ "Now who needs a cleric?"
