I'm currently playing a "Noah's Ark" game.
2 Lizard Fighters - 1 male, 1 female 2 Elves - 1 female mage, 1 male priest and the oddballs: 1 Human monk - female 1 Mook Ranger - male (Everybody has someone to curl up with when they camp, wink-wink, nudge-nudge, say no more!) Found Excalibur and a Raven's Bill. Those were the main weapons for my fighters until I got the Ivory Blade. Now it's Excalibur and Ivory Blade. My main problem w/ this group: nobody to pick locks! And Knock Knock seems to set off more traps than it opens, even though the casting percent is at 105! Had to have my Ranger do 3 levels as a Rogue. He uses Poseur's cap and a Thieves Buckler to pick the tumblers that Knock Knock doesn't get. Been a fun party. Have done 2/3 of AP and will probably finish tonight after I get home. |

I just started a solo elf party. He just exited the Monastery at level 2 (rogue) and I'm going to see what the Arnika road is like for him (the crabs at the entrance were level 2 softshells so I actually was able to kill them; I will level more as a rogue only if necessary). I did some stealth training and stealth is about 55.
. . . . . . . In the monastery I killed the king crab although I had not intended to (I ran by him the first time, but he got out of his room and cornered me later - for that reason I leveled up to level 2 to kill him). I ran by Gregor and used a stink bomb and magic missile sticks to kill the spiders guarding the portucullis switch to the upper monastery. I got around Gregor again by going into the room with the statue/trap door/key. I locked Gregor in the lower monastery, then ran around the rats, killed one higardi and ran around the rest and exited. My plan is to get to Arnika and take all the levels I have built up as a bishop. I have senses, dex, and speed at 60, str/vit at 35, level -up points will go to int/pie first. I'm planning on dual wielding mace as a bishop, I haven't decided how far to go as a bishop or what to do after that. |

I am a new poster here, but a fairly experienced CRPG player. Wizardry 8 is my current obsession, I have taken one group to the end and am in Rapax Castle with my second.
My current group has five members. Twin Dracons up front, a Lord and a Valkyrie, and three Faeries fluttering along in their wake, a Ninja, a Mage, and a Psionic. I gave the Dracons mellow, noble personalities and gave the Faeries the anti-social, maladjusted one. I love the image of the nasty little Faeries muttering and cursing along shouting about "Pillaging the bodies" and muttering "Good Riddance" and trying to con the group out of their dead companion's goods while the sweet tempered Dracons mash and mangle the opposition. I play on non-IM expert and am having little trouble this time through. IM next, where I think I will go with a more balanced, less themed party. |

Welcome to the boards Ae3!
I like playing around with the different voices as well. My favorite is the chaotic voice "If it walks I can change that" I usually give that voice to my human ninja's lol |

Welcome to the boards Ae3.
My favourite voice is the one with the french accent. Usually my rangers get that. [ 11-14-2003, 06:24 AM: Message edited by: dplax ]

I really enjoyed my first party, so much so that after they ascended, I immediately began a second game with the same group. I went through the second time very slowly, taking the time to smell the Crimson Poppies, trying to get all the good stuff, and saving games all along the way so that I can go back and replay any area. Also the first time through, I wasn’t that good at developing my characters. This time my Bard is a major killer with Bloodlust, my Ninja is deadly throwing when she is not using the Cane of Corpus, and my Bishop excels in everything (and presently her Powercast is 113 with the added points from the Amulet of Nebdar). My Samurai really came into her own once I slapped two Anks of Might on her. Only the Rapax Army and placing the last artifact is left for this group.
The party is: Dracon Fighter Felpurr Samurai Human Ranger Elf Bard Faerie Ninja Faerie Bishop *** Aftrer playing this group, of course, I wanted to try the specialist casters. So I’ve also got a game going with all 4 specialist casters where everyone eventually will use extended weapons. 2 Mook Fighters - Giant’s Swords Human Priest - Vampire’s Chain Gnome Alchemist - Flame Staff Elf Psionic - Ebon Staff Faerie Mage - Staff of Doom RFS - Z’Bo Vi - Dread Spear I’m maxing intelligence for all four spellcasters and will try to get powercast as high as possible. My Priest will also have powerstrike. *** My third game is a party of four. No RPCs except for quests. Human Lord Elf Bard Faerie Mage Human Ranger This party gives you all the protective spells. I always wanted to play a Lord because I had read they were weak, but mine is killing everything in sight, just like the Bard.

Those that say the Lord is weak, I suspect are not developing their Lords properly. I am running 3 parties as well and in the 2nd party I have a Lord who is doing very well especially since this party has not even gotten out of the monastery yet (just created them lol) I've prgressed to playing the game on normal rather than novice now and you can definitely tell the difference between the two settings lol it's harder for the characters to hit and penetrate on normal than on novice. I hate to think what expert is like! lol

I like Lords a lot. Their Dual-Wield bonus really pumps up the Mauler-Diamond Eyes combination. Their HP Regen bonus is very helpful, too. I even finished one game with a trio of all Lords. (Human, Dwarf, Rawulf)
(edit) Wanted to post an update, forgot what thread i was in...: Lord, Alc, Rogue party is now at the entrance to Beyjin. I'm going to split the saves here and take one through without reloading--Fang is enough for now, as the Rogue is going for Samurai when i get Muramasa, for which i will reload. The other save i think i'll go for ten tries, and take the best of them, just to see if i can get one of the Lights or an extra Phaser. Too bad you can't put a Phaser in both hands, i think you should be able to... Bard and Bishop have ascended, but i still kept the save around the corner from the End, i think i'm gonna fool around with them whenever i feel like mashing a bunch of mobs just for fun... So i started another bunch, this time i'm taking my Bishop's Stealth level as a Ninja, and have with her a Bard and a Fighter. Bishop is Human, the others are Hobbits.
