What I was trying to say is that, try to use the strengths of each of the NPCs instead of focusing on their weaknesses. You need to see the bigger picture. Bards are not Mages or Fighters, Bards are Bards.

Has it occured to annyone to use the Consitution belt? He already has 17 strength (which is as good as keldorns), good intelligence, good dexterity, good charisma, but bad constitution. Viconia is an awesome character, but she has terrible constitution AND strength. Thats worse by far. Aerie, similar story.

THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS: All NPCs have stats leaving much to be desired (Saervok aside of course). You have to either accept it or get around it.

Use Haer Dallis well, and he ends up with respecable armour class (He can wear armour like Bladesinger chain +4 so STFU about his lack of armour and use your head) while casting spells like Tenser's Transformation to give him lots of offensive ability. Of course, you can also use him as a back up mage (much like I sometimes use Aerie).
Like Dundee said, he isn't a fighter or a wizards, hes a bard.

Also, Jesters are ridiculously powerful, so don't mock bards.

Haer Dallis is an awesome character in ToB of course, since he gets the same Improved Bardsong. However, in the meantime, one needn't look far to see his power. He gets 2 good weapons (dex drain is really nifty) and not bad wizards spells. Oh, wait, he also casts wizards spells at a high level for his experience. Oh, wait, he also gets pickpocket, oh wait, he also has enough lore to identify any item in the game at the 10th level. Hmmm... He is possibly one of the best NPCs in ToB, and not weak in SoA... I wonder if I'd like to use him.

H'D went from being a tagalong in SoA to being an MVP in ToB. Bard High Level Abilities really, REALLY rock, as does their disproportionately high level. If you don't have ToB installed you might want to just ignore Bards, but if you do have ToB you may come to love them!
